I love dressing our dog Espn up for Halloween. Sadly it’s always “hit or miss” with him. Sometimes he’s OK with the costume we get for him. Other times we have to fight with him to keep it on (mostly we give in and take it off of him).
Not too long ago my husband and I were in Target. Whenever I’m in a department store like Target I love to check out the seasonal stuff. We were checking out the Halloween decorations when I came across pet costumes. Oh my goodness! Target has some of the cutest pet costumes. One of my favorites is one that makes your dog look like a giant hot dog. There is a daschund that lives across the street from us that dresses up as a hot dog every year for Halloween. After all, she’s the perfect shape to be a hot dog. LOL!
They also had a super cute bride costume but our dog Espn (pronounced Es-pin) is a boy.
Shortly after we saw the costumes in Target I was asked by Target if I wanted to review one of the costumes that they carry. I opted for a cute skunk costume. We sometimes call Espn “stinky dog” when he is in need of grooming, so it seemed appropriate that we get him a skunk costume.
I wasn’t sure how Espn would take to this costume. He’s not a fan of having things on his head. He’s OK with shirts, but this shirt comes with an attached tail and I wasn’t sure if Espn would be bothered by it or not.
The skunk costume is adorable. It’s made as well as a plush animal. In a way it’s like a plush animal (it’s soft and cuddly).
Here is the costume right out of the package.
The things that look like legs in the top photo are actually the straps that wrap around underneath the dog.
I tried to get the costume on Espn. He was not going to let me keep the head part on him. He kept knocking it off intentionally. I figured it was OK since you can clearly see that it’s a skunk costume, so maybe he can get away without the head piece on.
Oh well… no such luck! Espn kept going after the tail. Not because he didn’t like it but more so because he thought it was a toy! He kept trying to pull the tail off to play with it. Silly dog!
As you can see from the photos above Espn wasn’t too keen about being dressed up. He rather play with the skunk costume’s tail.
I’m sorry that he didn’t keep it on. It’s an adorable costume and he would have received a lot of compliments from it.
As far as the quality is concerned this costume is made very well. I have had pet costumes before that fall apart as soon as you put them on your pet. This costume is made as well as “human” costumes. I love how plush the skunk fur feels. This is the type of costume that would last year after year.
If I can get Espn to keep this cute costume on he should look a lot like the dog in this photo (below).
As you can see it’s adorable.
Target carries a really nice assortment of pet costumes (only dogs from what I’ve seen) both in their stores and online. They are also “budget friendly” as far as the prices are concerned. Even the more elaborate costumes are fairly inexpensive.
To find a Target location near you visit www.Target.com. Please note that not all costumes are available in all areas.
