Ghost or Goblin? Princess or Pirate? These are the compelling questions that children across the country are debating on. I love it when a child knows exactly what they want to be for Halloween. My kids used to be that way but the older they got them more difficult the decision was. It’s Halloween! It’s not prom. Ha Ha.
Sadly, my kids are “too old” for Trick or Treating anymore. It breaks our hearts because it’s just another reminder that they are growing up. I just hope that on day they have children so I can take my grandchildren trick or treating.
We always took our dog with us when we went trick or treating. When he was a puppy I was able to dress him in Build-a-Bear outfits. For the past few years I have been putting him in dog costumes. He doesn’t always agree with that (he’s not a fan of wearing costumes), but after a while he doesn’t even realize he’s wearing one.
Animal Planet always has the cutest pet costumes. They are often very unique and comical.
Last year we dressed our dog Espn (pronounced Es-pin) in an Animal Planet Dinosaur costume. He wasn’t exactly keen on the idea.
He looked so cute!
This year we’re going to dress Espn up in another Animal Planet costume. This year he’s going to be a butterfly. I know it’s not the most “masculine” costume for a male dog, but I thought it was just too adorable. This year he’s actually going to let me keep the costume on him (or at last I hope so).
He doesn’t seem to mind the wings. It’s the hat that we’re having a hard time keeping on his head. He’s not a fan of “hats”. Not only that, he knows there are little pom-poms on it and he wants to play with them.
Doesn’t he look adorable!
What I like about the costumes from Animal Planet is that they are very realistic looking. Their costumes feature creatures from around the world (both past and present). Most costumes come with a hat or head piece to make your pet look even more like the animal they are dressing up as.
I don’t think they would look as cool if it wasn’t for the addition of the head pieces.
The Animal Planet costumes are very well made and can withstand most dogs. Espn for example is very fidgety and bouncy. The elastic on the wings that holds it on his back is thick and should withstand him running around and going up and down stairs while wearing them. The Velcro on the head piece closure is also sturdy. He shouldn’t be able to knock it off his head under normal circumstance.
If you are looking for a fun costume to dress your dog (or cat) up in this year you’ll certainly want to check out the selection offered by Animal Planet. They are carried by a number of retailers.
