Green Giant Seasoned Steamers (Giveaway ends 11/16/12)

As a busy mom I’m always looking for a way to cut corners and saving time (and money!) when preparing dinner for my family. When I have the time I love to make my meals and side dishes from scratch whenever possible. Sometimes that is just not possible. I don’t always have the time to peel and cut up potatoes or go shopping for exotic herbs and spices to jazz up the flavor.

Every night when I make dinner we pretty much always have a protein (meat), starch (potato, rice or pasta) and a steamed veggie. Sometimes I toss in some fruit too.

I find that I often get into a cooking “rut” where I end up making the same meals and side dishes over and over again.

Thanks to Green Giant I can now serve my family some flavorful and chef-inspired side dishes in a matter of minutes thanks to the steamer bags that heat up in the microwave.

Here is a little more about Green Giant Seasoned Steamers.

With a dash of imagination, a pinch of culinary skill, and a heap of flavor, Green Giant Seasoned Steamers are giving you a new reason to enjoy eating your vegetables. Shake up your vegetable routine with these flavorful, chef-inspired options that are seasoned to perfection, without a drop of sauce. Now, more than ever, you can leave your family craving more vegetables with every meal and break through meal monotony with a new palate-pleasing vegetable option for everyone! With new Green Giant Seasoned Steamers, eating vegetables just got easier and more delicious!

Green Giant Seasoned Steamers are made with quality ingredients including premium cut vegetable blends. They are also made without sauces. They are seasoned with herbs and spices.

The varieties include;

  • Mediterranean Blend
  • Tuscan Seasoned Broccoli
  • Brussel Sprouts with Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper
  • Honey Roasted Sweet Corn
  • Honey Dijon Carrots
  • Backyard Grilled Potatoes

So far my family has tried the Backyard Grilled Potatoes and the Tuscan Seasoned Broccoli. I am anxious to try the Brussel Sprouts with Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper. I Brussel Sprouts, as do my kids (not my husband – he won’t even entertain the thought of even trying one). So far I have been unable to find it in my local grocery store. I look for it every time I go shopping. I see the other varieties (except Honey Dijon Carrots and Honey Roasted Sweet Corn). I hope my grocer gets all the varieites in soon.

The Green Giant Steamers are super easy to prepare. Simply put the bag in your microwave for the correct amount of time and press start. When the microwave beeps carefully remove the bag and let it sit for a minute or two then CAREFULLLY open the bag and serve. Be careful when opening becuase some of the steam can burn you.

I’m sorry that I don’t have a photo of the broccoli blend. My family loves broccoli (thankfully). We eat is 2-3 times per week. Usually I just steam it or add a little garlic and/or garlic pepper. It was nice to try the Tuscan Blend. It was a tasty change of pace.

I loved the flavor of the potato blend. I just wish the potatoes were a little crisper. Next time maybe I’ll pop them in the oven for a few minutes after they are done cooking to firm them up a bit. We’ll see.

Green Giant’s Seasoned Steamers are a great blend of herbs, spices and vegetables. They make a perfect side dish to any meal. One package can serve a family of four too, although chances are they might start asking for seconds (or thirds!).

  25. I love the idea that companies like Green Giant are bringing healthy side options to our table. Unfortunately, busy working people do not always have the time to plan healthy side options or like you say, get into the same side dish rut—so this is the perfect solution. Anything that makes it easy to have a healthy food option at meals is great.
