New holiday movie – Christmas Angel – Airing on GMC 11/23/12 & 11/24/12

‘Tis the season for holiday programming. Sometimes I wish there were more hours in the day so I can squeeze in all the shows, specials and movies that are available during the holiday season. I’m always afraid I’m going to miss out on something really special.

I’m glad that I had the opportunity to see a new movie, airing on GMC this Saturday and Sunday, called Christmas Angel. The movie will air at 7:00 PM , 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM (EST) each day.

Christmas Angel stars Della Reese, Terri Polo, Tamera Mowry-Housley and Kevin Sorbo.

Christmas Angel is the story of a young girl name Olivia. She lives with her single mother, Melinda (Polo). Melinda works at a bakery with her best friend, Daphne (Mowry-Housley) who also happens to be Olivia’s best friend’s Lucas’s mother.

Olive is a sweet girl with a huge heart. She thinks about others before she thinks about herself.

One of Olivia’s classmates really wanted a bike for Christmas. Olivie thought that was odd since he live with foster parents. She thought he’d want parents for Christmas, but that is certainly no easy gift to give someone.

Olivia wishes her classmate would get his bike. Lucas suggested that she make a wish on the “wishing house”. The wishing house is an old, abandoned house next door to Olivia. Local legend has it that if you make a wish and toss a rock at the house and it breaks a window you wish will come true. Olivia opted not to throw a rock, but she did wish (loudly) that her classmate get a bike. The next day her classmate was riding around town on a new bike.

Olivia began to think there was something magical with the house. Just after making the wish for the bike she noticed a glowing blue light in an upstairs window. Olivia feels that an angel must live in the house. That would explain the mysterious light and how her classmate received the bike.

Olivia started to make wishes for other classmates and people around town. Some wishes actually came true. Her classmates learned of the wishing house and started to show up making silly wishes like a wish for a million dollars and a mansion. They kids would also throw rocks at the house.

A strange man has been showing at at school and visiting her teacher, Ms. Bell. One night the man showed up at the wishing out. It turns out that he owns the house. He used to live there with his wife but they moved away a long time ago. He stopped caring for the house and it was falling apart.

Olivia also learned that the house was occupied by a mysterious elderly lady. At first she was frightened of the elderly lady but later she became friends with her.

Who is the mysterious lady next door? How are the holiday wishes being granted for the children around town? What wish did Olivia request of the wishing house and who is the strange man that has been seen around town? To find out you need to tune in to the movie, Christmas Angel, airing THIS WEEKEND on GMC. Please check your local TV guide for the channel.

Here is the trailer for the film. You can also view the trailer at the link found at the bottom fo this post.

This was a really sweet movie. It’s a perfect film to watch together with your family. I expresses the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is about thinking about others, not wanting things for yourself. It’s also about helping those who are less fortunate that you, or even befriending someone who might be very lonely.

There were a few slow spots in the film but over all I really enjoyed it. I actually got a bit teary eyed at the end. They were tears of happiness because it’s a “feel good” movie.

This weekend, instead of rushing around from store to store, or doing a marathon of online shopping, why not take some time with your family and tune in to Christmas Angel. Pop some popcorn, make some hot chocolate, sit back, relax and unwind to a film that will make your heart smile.
