Blue Buffalo Kitty Litter

With five cats I’d like to think we have a little bit of experience when it comes to kitty litter. We’ve tried many different types of litters over the years from many different brands. From clay to clumping and from biodegradable to litter made out of who-knows-what. We’ve probably spent a small fortune trying out new litters too, but we tend to stick with the same brand because out of all of them it’s the only one that seems to work well for our needs. That doesn’t mean that I’m still not open to the idea of trying out new litters. You just never know when the perfect one might find it’s way to our litter box.

I have tried and reviewed several products from Mr. Chewy. I have always been pleased with every product I have received to review from them. Sadly I received one product that I didn’t like at all.

A while back we received some Blue Buffalo Kitty Litter. It’s one of several brands that Mr. Chewy carries.

According to the product description;

Superior odor control among leading clumping litters. A proprietary blend of the fibrous materials found only in walnut shells is proven to neutralize odor better than other brand clumping litters. Super-absorbent formula produces hard clumps in 15 minutes with virtually no dust.

The litter is also made out of Walnuts.

I wouldn’t say that the product totally “neutralized odor better than other brand clumping litters”. We still smelled it when the cats would use the litter box. Sometimes we would smell it, other times we wouldn’t. As far as the odor control is concerned the Blue Buffalo Kitty Litter was about the same as other brands on the market.

I can deal with the odor. I mean, it’s not like it sits in the box that long. With five cats we make it a point to clean out the litter box as soon as we know someone went. The only time we don’t clean out the box immediately is when we’re not at home or overnight. As soon as we walk in the door, or as soon as we wake up, we clean out the litter box.

Even with the brand we normally use you can’t smell that we have a cat. We’ve asked people who have come into our home if they smelled our cats. Since our condo is on the market we make sure that it never does. We even had one of our neighbors come into our home when we were not home and walk around our home and smell it to see if she smelled cat. She came out and said you would never know we had cats. That’s a good thing!

The Blue Buffalo Kitty Litter does clump, but they are not hard clumps. They crumble and get all over the place. That is the only reason why I have to give this litter a negative review.

Every time we would scoop up the clumps and make our way to the garbage can to throw them out the clumps they would break apart and crumble and get all over the place. The pieces would fall through the openings (slots) on the scoop and make their way to the floor where they would “shatter” and the litter would go every where. It made a huge mess!

After a few days of this happening my husband threw out all the Blue Buffalo Kitty Litter and replaced it with our normal brand.

I have tried Blue Buffalo pet foods with my dog and our cats and have been very pleased with them. I like that they are made with natural ingredients and not something whipped up in a lab. When it comes to feeding my pets quality food, Blue Buffalo is certainly one of the brands I look too. Sadly their litter isn’t as good as their pet foods.

This review no way reflects Mr. Chewy. I have reviewed plenty of products from the site over the years and have always been pleased. Not only that I am very impressed by Mr. Chewy’s customer service and commitment to providing their customers the best brands out there.

If you would like to learn more about Mr. Chewy and check out the other brands and products they carry visit www.Chewy.com. Mr. Chewy carries both dog and cat products as well as toys, grooming products, health and wellness and more.

You can also find Mr. Chewy on Facebook and Twitter. You can even find them on Pinterest. I love their Pinterest boards. They have a lot of adorable and funny pet pictures. :-)
