For the past couple of weeks I have been thoroughly enjoying my new HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO (All-in-One) Computer. I love, love, love my new computer! Every day I learn a little more about the awesome things I can do with it.
If you missed my initial review you can find it here, http://bit.ly/XARPe5 (I shortened the link).
The HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO comes with Windows 8. I’m still trying to learn the “ins and outs” of the new Windows set up. I’m a “creature of habit” and sometimes it takes me a while to warm up to changes. I can see how it’s much more efficient then other operating systems. I absolutely LOVE how I can see what is happening in true time, especially on Facebook and Twitter, without having to visit both sites. Updates automatically appear on a tile on my home screen.
Another thing that is taking me a bit to get used to is that the monitor is touchscreen. I’m so used to using a mouse and a keyboard to do things online. I keep forgetting that I can simply tap or swipe my finger on the screen to accomplish many of the same tasks that I can do with the keyboard and/or mouse.
My kids keep fighting over who gets to use the new computer. Since it’s mom’s computer and on mom’s desk, mom always wins out. 🙂 But seriously, my kids love it just as much as I do. In fact my 13 year old keeps show ME how to do things and find things on the computer. He’s a computer whiz and he’s been having a grand time learning this new computer.
The HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO Computer is pretty much “plug and play”. When I was offered which delivery date I wanted (a Saturday or a Monday) I requested the Saturday because I knew my husband would be home (he’s a computer tech) and I wanted him to help me set it up ASAP. I have been so anxious to receive the computer that there was no way I could wait until he got home from work on Monday to set it up. Not only that, I wasn’t sure how long it would take and I know after work he’s often tired and the last thing he wants to do is see computers, let alone set one up. After seeing how quickly he set up the HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart AiO Computer I feel a bit foolish. Even someone as “technologically challenged” as me could have set this up.
When it comes to “bells and whistles”, this computer has it all! From a great web cam with plenty of cool features, to the built in Blu-ray player (yes, you read that right – the computer plays Blu-ray discs!), and from the stunning quality of the images on the screen to the Beats audio speakers.
I should also add that the computer comes with a 1 TB (Terabyte) hard drive. I have a 500 gig external hard drive on my laptop that is over flowing with photos, music, videos and documents. There is so much stuff on that external that it’s hard to find anything. With everything on there I still have 248 gigs of free space. So can you imagine how much stuff you can put on a 1 TB hard drive which has 1,000 gigs of space?
For those of you reading this post who want to know all the technical details about this computer, here you go;

As a “technologically challenged” person I can’t tell you what half of this stuff means. All I know is that this computer ROCKS!
Speaking of “rock” (and roll!) I am loving the I Heart Radio application and being able to listen to holiday music all day with the crystal clear Beats audio system.
I’ve been sick with a stomach bug (blah!) and busy with the holiday and some last minute things before the end of the year, but I am slowly collecting family and friend’s Skype information so that I can try and connect with them during the holiday season. I’m especially anxious to chat with my cousins in the United Kingdom. The time difference is a bit of a problem, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out.
