My apologies for not getting this review up BEFORE the holiday. Things were just a bit crazy. Even though this book has holiday recipes in it, it also have recipes that can be used year round. Plus the book will always be available so you can purchase it at any time. 🙂
I am always looking for short cuts when it comes to cooking. The quicker and easier the better. Any busy person can relate to that. Who has time to follow complicated, multi-ingredient recipes that have dozens of steps? Not me! I want the quickest recipes with the least amount of ingredients. When I heard that the recipes in this book had only 4 ingredients in them I knew that I had to check out the recipes for myself. Aside from spaghetti, I can’t think of anything else I make on a regular basis that has that few ingredients.
4 Ingredients Christmas: Recipes for a Simply Yummy Holiday is written by Kim McCosker. Kim is from Australia where she is a popular author. Kim is a mom herself so she knows what it’s like to be busy. She also knows how much time, effort and even money that goes into preparing meals for your family. She found a way to simplify cooking, even cooking for big events and big families in the easiest ways.
Most of Kim’s recipes contain…
- 4 or fewer ingredients
- 4 sentences
- 1 cup, 1 tablespoon, and 1 teaspoon
- Fresh ingredients you can get from any grocery store.
Her cooking style has completely changed the lives of busy moms around the world. The Night Before Christmas
Soups and Salads
Aside from the recipes found in The Night Before Christmas section, the rest of the recipes can be enjoyed year round, so don’t let the book title fool you into thinking you can ONLY enly these recipes for the holiday season.
There are recipes in the book that are only suitable for the holiday, such as Magic Reindeer Dust and Reindeer Treats, but aside from that most other recipes are not holiday specific.
Inside the pages of the book you’ll find mouth water recipes such as Maple & Pepper Glazed Turkey, Salmon Terrine, Salted Caramel Charms, Sweet Squash Galette and Roast Pork and Macadamia Fudge.
The recipes are easy enough to follow along and most don’t require fancy ingredients that are hard to come by. Many ingredients are pantry staples and others are easy found in your local grocery store.
These recipes are a bit on the fancy side. I can’t see me making them often for my family, but I do see me making them if I was having company or hosting a dinner party. That is why these recipes made it into a holiday book – because they are ideal for entertaining. You can fool your guests into thinking you spend hours in the kitchen preparing a gourmet meal when the reality is that the recipes were as easy as 1-2-3. 🙂
I haven’t had the opportunity to make any of these recipes yet, only because I have been busy with other things. I am planning on trying the Maple & Pepper Glazed Turkey. That is one of the recipes that really stood out to me. YUMMY!
