I ♥ Dunkin’ Donuts. It’s my “home away from home”. I hate to admit this but I stop and get coffee (and sometimes food) at least 4-5 times per week. I think it’s become an addiction. I feel out of sorts if a day goes by and I don’t stop for some DD coffee.
You know you go to DD too much when the people who work there know exactly how you want your coffee without even saying anything to them.
Dunkin’ Donuts offers consumers so much more than coffee and donuts. They also offer a variety of sandwiches. My favorite is the ham, egg and cheese on an English Muffin and a side of hash browns. Yummy!
With the start of the new year many people vow to make better-for-you food choices. If that sounds like you then you’ll be happy to know that you don’t have to avoid your local DD. That is because DD kicked off 2013 with several “smart” new ways to help you “hit the New Year running”.
Dunkin’ Donuts has also added a Turkey Sausage Breakfast Sandwich (pictured above) to its DDSmart menu in select markets. This delicious sandwich option is under 400 calories. It features a pepper fried egg, turkey sausage patty and a slice of reduced fat cheddar cheese, served on a toasted English Muffin. It sounds yummy. I am going to make a point of trying it the next time I am at DD.
Hurry! The Turkey Sausage Breakfast Sandwich is only available for a limited time and only at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in New England and the Mid-Atlantic United States.
Dunkin’ Donuts’ DDSmart menu offers a tasty variety of foods and beverages to choose from. You can enjoy these better for you options without having to compromise taste, quality or value. Many of these food and beverages have fewer than 300 calories, including:
Egg White Flatbread Sandwiches (280 calories) are available in either Veggie or Turkey Sausage varieties. Both are served on toasted multigrain flatbread.
Wake-Up Wraps are perfect for value-conscious, on-the-go people who want a fast, freshly-prepared breakfast option in a smaller portion size and with fewer calories than the usual breakfast sandwich. Wake-Up Wraps are available in several varieties, including Egg White Veggie (150 calories), Egg White Turkey Sausage (150 calories), Egg & Cheese (180 calories) and Ham, Egg & Cheese (200 calories).
Small Latte Lite has 80 calories and is made with skim milk and Splenda.
Freshly-brewed unsweetened hot teas are all zero-calories.
Freshly-brewed unsweetened small and medium Iced Teas have five calories.
All Dunkin’ Donuts’ DDSMART items meet at least one of the following criteria: 25% fewer calories; 25% less sugar, fat, saturated fat or sodium than comparable fare, and/or contain ingredients or nutrients that are nutritionally beneficial.
Did you know that January is also National Oatmeal Month? Another product on the DDSmart menu is Quaker Oatmeal. It’s available in original and brown sugar favors. Each one is also served with dried fruit. I have enjoyed the oatmeals several times (brown sugar is my favorite). They are really hearty and help to fill you up to keep you going.
Did you know that DD also has their own app? It’s called the Dunkin’ app. With the app you can send virtual DD gift cards to family and friends via e-mail, text or even Facebook (or they can send you one!) through the mGift feature. The mobile app is available for both iPhone and Android smartphones.
You can use your mGift card at over 6,000 participating DD across the country. All Dunkin’ Donuts mGifts can also be added directly to the Dunkin’ App, reloaded right from the phone, and used as a fast, convenient way to pay every day. Plus you are able to keep track of your purchases and mGift card balance right from the app on your phone.
I also love that the app helps you to pin point your nearest DD location. It also includes the DD address, hours of operation, phone number and other goodies that they offer (K-cups, WiFi, mGift card payments…). The app can also give you driving directions to your nearest location too. That is a must have if you travel a lot. It also gives you details and directions to all the DD locations no matter where you are.
