Disney’s Planes lands in theaters on August 9, 2013

Disney Planes

The other day my family was enjoying the movie Wreck-It Ralph on Blu-ray for Family Movie Night. While we were gearing up to watch the movie we saw a trailer for a new Disney film coming to theaters on August 9, 2013. It’s called Planes and it looks like a really fun movie.

My husband’s first thought about Planes is that it’s just like the movies Cars, but with airplanes. Cars and Cars 2 are great movies. I hope Planes is just as wonderful.

Disney’s Plans is an action packed 3D animated comedy adventure about Dusty’s dream of competing as a high-flying air racer and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights. Disney’s Planes is inspired by the world of Cars and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (King of the Hill, The Simpsons). The film takes off in theaters in 3D on Aug. 9, 2013.

It was recently announced that stand up comedian Dane Cook (Employee of the Month) has been cast as the lead voice character of Dusty the Plane.

This all new story from Disney offers an exciting cast of characters and centers on Dusty’s high-flying dream. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing, so he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

Planes is produced by Traci Balthazor-Flynn and THE John Lasseter is the Executive Producer. John was the Producer on such films as Brave, Toy Story (all three of them), Wreck-It Ralph, Winnie the Pooh (2012), Tangled and Finding Nemo – to name a few. These are all fantastic movies so you know that Planes is going to join the ranks as another great John Lasseter film. FYI… I see on IMDB that there is a Toy Story 4 in the works. Yeah! :-)

If you would like to keep up to date on the film check out the official website, www.Disney.com/Planes. you can also follow the film on Facebook as well as Disney Pictures on Twitter.
