emBARK on your pet’s health & health pets in need (giveaway ends 3/25/13) #sergeantspet

Paw Heart

For the past few weeks I have written a couple of posts about the emBARK on Pet Health. Your pet’s health is very important. Without regular check ups, vaccinations, healthy nutrition and regular exercise, your pet cannot be expected to live a long or healthy life. As a pet parent you need to be 100% committed to doing all you can to take care of your pet’s health.

I’m the “mom” to six pets – five cats and a dog (some fish too). I can tell you first hand how much is involved in caring for pets. Pets are not something you can expect to “fend for themselves”. They need YOU to provide them with food, water, shelter, exercise and health care. Let me tell you from experience, health care can be expensive but well worth it to keep your beloved pet healthy and to help them live out a long life with you and your family.

We have one cat, Bella, who requires a lot of medical tests, office visits and medications. Currently I am saving up to take her to a cardiologist in New Jersey (we live in NY) because she needs another Echocardiogram with a Doppler. She also needs a scope down her throat to look for any blockage and a test on her Thyroid. The Echocardiogram with Doppler is $577 and the office visit is $165. I’m still waiting on the cost for the other procedures.

People think I’m crazy to spend so much money on my pet’s health. Our pets are a part of our family and therefore we do what we can to keep them healthy. Yes, it can cost a lot, but as long as my family is not suffering then it’s worth it. So what if we have to give up ordering pizza, going to the movies or buying frivolous things. Our pet’s health is worth every penny. A pizza or a decorative pillow is not going to give you unconditional love like a pet would.

emBARK

Not all pets are lucky enough to have a forever family that will do whatever they can to keep them healthy. There are plenty of beautiful pets living at shelters across the country hoping to find a family that will love and care about them. That is where Sergeant’s comes in. Their emBARK program is going to help supply 5,000 pet care product kits to shelters across the country to help pets in need.

Here is more information about the program.

There are nearly 70 million dog owners and 74 million cat owners in the  United States, and while many of these pet owners know it is important to keep  their pets healthy, they don’t necessarily think about the things they should be  doing on an ongoing basis to ensure that health. Sergeant’s  Pet Care Products, a  leading pet care product company, and actress and animal advocate Tiffani  Thiessen, are joining together to emBARK on Pet Health by educating and  empowering these families during Responsible Pet Owners month (February).

The emBARK on Pet Health campaign asks pet owners to take a simple  pledge to become more mindful of their pet’s ongoing needs at www.emBARKonPetHealth.com.  Each pledge will trigger the donation of a Sergeant’s Pet Health Kit, which – with the help of the American Humane Association – will be sent to help one of  the millions of animals waiting for their forever homes at local shelters  nationwide. Sergeant’s Pet Care Products is committed to donating up to 5,000  kits, which will ensure that these animals are sent home with all the products  they need to get started on a healthy and happy life together after  adoption.

Each kit consists of the following products:

  • Sergeant’s Whiff Shampoo
  • PurLuv Sizzlin Strips
  • SENTRY Petrodex Dental Kit
  • SENTRY Calming Collar for dogs with Good Behavior pheromone technology
  • Sergeant’s Vetscription Joint Eze Plus
  • Coupons for Flea & Tick Products

I received one of these kits as well for my participation in this campaign, however I opted to donate mine to our local animal shelter. I figured they could use it more than we could.

If you have even a moment of time to spare please consider making the pledge. It just takes a minute of your time, it’s FREE and they don’t ask for any real personal information. The link is above (emBARKonPetHealth.com).

  16. I have a lot of pets….I have two rescue kitties, one of which just showed up and never left, the other I found in a bank parking lot when he was just a baby kitten and brought him home and bottle fed him and kept him….and I have eight doggies, three of them are rescues, one came from a lady who had too many small children and too many large dogs and no time for a small breed puppy (her words not mine) and another rescue was adopted from the local pound who was going to put him to sleep because he was very underweight and also had pneumonia from untreated kennel cough. My other rescue dog is a pit bull I found wandering the streets. He was emaciated and had been badly abused as was suffering with broken ribs and had internal bleeding and was only 12-14 week old puppy! I also have a rescue pair of ducks rescued from someone keeping them in a rubbermaid container in the bathroom who didn’t realize how big they would get??? I was beyond shocked hearing this as I couldn’t believe someone would think cute Easter baby ducks would stay small and fluffy….I also have a rescued bearded dragon and several rescued dwarf bunnies…..so a wide variety of rescue pets in addition to my other dogs…I love animals and am lucky to have the time and space for them all and an animal lover hubby too!

    • I forgot the fish….we have several fish tanks and a heated koi pond also….
      I also took the pledge!
