Are you a fan of the series The Client List? If so you will be happy to know that a new season starts tomorrow (Sunday, March 10th). The show is on Lifetime at 10:00 PM.
Leading up to the shows return a mini-marathon will be shown on Lifetime on Sunday the 10th.
Did you know the series, The Client List, propelled Lifetime to number one in the Sunday 10:00pm time period among Women 18+?
Season one of The Client List delivered Lifetime’s strongest freshman season for an original series since 2009 among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Women 25-54. Among Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49, it was Lifetimes best freshman season since Army Wives in 2007.
I have heard of the show and heard great things about it, but I never watched it until just recently.
If you are unfamiliar with this here is a bit of a background on the series.
Riley Parks (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is married to Kyle. They reside in Texas and have two young children.
Kyle was out of work for a long time due to an injury and was having a difficult time finding a new job. To help support her family Riley takes a job at what seems like a traditional day spa called The Rub of Sugarland. Behind the scenes the women offer sexual favors on the side. Riley chooses not to disclose fully the extent of her job to her family. For all they know she gives massages. Besides, she was a happily married woman and had no need to offer sexual favors. At least she thought she was happily married, that is until her husband disappears.
Unable to keep up with the bills Riley has no choice but to offer sexual favors to her clients in order to make big tips. However Riley offers her clients something more than that – she offers them an ear to listen to their problems and offers them advice. She goes give her clients sensual massages, but not sex.
Riley’s beauty and big heart make her a favorite of the spa.
Not only does Riley offer sound advice to her clients, the advice can alos be applied to her current situation.
Riley has to learn to adjust to being a single mom, she also have to balance her job at the spa and her home life, making sure that her secret is never found out.
To complicate things even more, Riley has become closer to her brother in law Evan. She still loves her husband, but she is also angry and upset with him for abandoning their family.
The Client List also stars Golden Globe winner Cybill Shepherd as Riley’s mother Linette and Emmy Award Winning actress Lorette Devine as Georgia, the owner of The Rub of Sugarland.
I recently received the complete first season on DVD to review. I have to say I find the show addicting. I watched the first four episodes in a row the first time I started to watch the show. I just had to see what happened next with Riley.
I was never really a big fan of Jennifer Love Hewitt. I liked her in the movie Can’t Hardly Wait and I Know What You Did Last Summer, but that is pretty much all I have seen her in. I never watched The Ghost Whisperer, which actually ran for five years.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started to watch The Client List, but after the first episode I was hooked. It’s mostly a drama about a woman trying to deal with her husband abandoning their family and trying to provide for her children in an unconventional way. There are actually some comical moments in the show too. Lorette Devine (Georgia on the show) steals the show. I love her sassiness and “tell-it-like-it-is” attitude. Riley’s brother in law, Evan (Colin Egglesfield) is total “eye candy”. Not only that he’s very good to Riley and her children. He’s a sweet AND sexy guy.
Jennifer Love Hewitt does prance around half naked a lot of the time, so I’m sure that will be a huge hit with male viewers.
There are some sexual innuendos and Jennifer Love Hewitt is scantily dressed a lot of the time, but there is no nudity, actual sex or bad language (at least nothing I have seen so far).
I’m totally hooked on the show. I’m glad it comes on at 10 PM. That means I can watch my other favorite shows on Sunday night and catch the new season of The Client List too.
Here is a recap of season one for your convenience. If you are reading this via e-mail you can find the video here, http://bit.ly/WRattR.
