I just finished reading a book that I think might appeal to may parents/grandparents and their children/grandchildren. Its called OinkADoodleMoo. It’s written by Alan St. Jean and illustrated by Libby Carruth Krock.
OinkADoodleMoo gets my vote for the most creative book title. 🙂
OinkADoodleMoo is the story of a farm, a farmer and the only three animals that reside in the barn – a pig, a cow and a chicken.
Life on the farm is great and carefree, that is until a mean brown bear makes him way on to the farm and sets his sites on eating the barnyard animals.
Instead of fleeing for their lives the animal friends decide they are going to fight off the bear. Instead of gathering weapons, or a way to trap the bear, they come up with a rather unique idea – form a band. Why form a band? Because music soothes the savage beast.
Sadly their band idea didn’t work and the bear was about to pounce, that is until chicken threatened the bear with a big cowboy boot with a steal tip.
What does chicken do with this boot? You might think he throws it at the bear, or perhaps kick him with it. Nope. That is not what happens. You’ll just have to pick up a copy of The Legend of OinkADoodleMoo to find out. 🙂
This is a sweet story that features delightful illustrations. The each page of the story rhymes which always seems to appeal to children. This would be a cute story to read at bedtime. It’s also a fun story for children/grandchildren who love animals.
Here is a little more information about the book and how it came to be.
