Toss out those take out menus! (giveaway ends 4/10/13)

Do YOU have a pile of take out menus in your kitchen? Are you on a first name basis with your Pizza delivery man? Does the man at the Chinese restaurant already have your order ready for you before you even call? If so then I think you rely on take out food a little TOO MUCH. :-)

Growing up my mom always made dinner. Ordering pizza was a rarity. If I had Chinese food twice a year I considered it a good year.

When I got married and had children I vowed that I would cook dinner every night for my family. Most of the time I do. I would have to say that at least 90% of the dinners we have are made at home. Unfortunately our budget doesn’t’ allow for us to eat our often and were rarely order take out. There are plenty of days I wish I could just pick up the phone and order pizza.

Some take out foods you can try and make at home. Take for example pizza. Pizza is probably one of the easiest take out food you can make. When it comes to things like Chinese food, they can be a bit harder to replicate. Not everyone has the skill or knowledge to wrap their own won tons or spring rolls.

SeaPak has added a new product to their line up that can help you create a take out meal home. In fact once you try them you might never call for take out again.

SeaPak sent me some of their new Shrimp Spring Rolls to review. There was no compensation.

The new Shrimp Spring Rolls are handmade with tender shrimp and crispy vegetables tucked inside a crunchy wrapper. They also come with a very delicious Sweet Thai Chili Dipping Sauce.

There is no chopping, rolling or frying involved. Unlike how they are prepared at your favorite Chinese restaurant, these spring rolls go from the oven to the table in about 15 minutes. Simply heat up the over, bake for about 15 minutes and enjoy. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

The box comes with two individually wrapped packages so you can enjoy some now and save some for another time. Each package also comes with it’s own package of the Sweet Thai Chili Dipping Sauce.

I had the opportunity to try these. It was surprised to see whole shrimp inside the rolls. And unlike other frozen foods these spring rolls tasted fresh, as if they came from the restaurant. They didn’t have that frozen food taste to them.

I was very surprised by the Sweet Thai Chili Dipping Sauce. At first I thought it was way too spicy for my liking but after trying it a few times I realized just how much I loved it. In fact the sauce is probably one of my favorite things about these spring rolls, next to the whole shrimps.

One serving of the SeaPak Shrimp Spring Rolls is three rolls. Each serving has 170 calories and 9 grams of fat. Two tablespoons of the dipping sauce is only 50 calories. There are 16 spring rolls in each package (8 rolls in two separate packages).

The rolls back up crispy and crunchy too. They taste like they were fried but they are cooked in the oven. You can fry them if you want (there are directions on the package to fry them). I prefer to bake things in the oven.

These shrimp rolls can be “addicting’. I prepared a few of them for myself and I can honestly say once I finished what I had made I was anxious to make myself some more.

These new shrimp spring rolls are great for dinner, lunch, as an appetizer or snack. I intend on using these as a lunch and snack for myself.

So toss out those take out menus and pick up a box (or two!) of the new SeaPak Shrimp Spring Rolls.
