Cleaning is NOT one of my favorite things to do. In fact I hate to clean. My mom told me never to use the word “hate” because it’s a strong word. I feel it’s acceptable in this case. Aside from having a clean home, what other joy can I get from scrubbing toilets and mopping floors?
Cleaning is a fact of life. It needs to get done unless you want to end up on some kind of reality show when you home gets condemned.
Personally I look for products that make cleaning quicker and easier. The more stream lined I can get my cleaning the happier I am. I rather spend an hour or two cleaning my entire home than an entire day. Usually it takes me the entire day.
We have carpeting in half our home and laminate flooring on the other half. The dining room, kitchen and hallway all have laminate flooring. Our bathroom has tile flooring.
My cats have a gross habit of stepping in the wet litter upon exiting the litter box and then trekking across the kitchen, dining room and/or hallway, leaving behind little white paw prints. You can actually tell what path they took simply by looking at the footprints. Thankfully this doesn’t happen all the time (I’m always on top of keeping the litter box clean). When it does it’s a pain in the you-know-what to clean the floors. I usually end up on my hands and knees with a cleaning cloth and cleaning spray and wiping up each little print.
Rubbermaid sent me their Reveal Spray Mop to review. I have seen the mops before at the store but have never tried one before.
The Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop has an attached refillable bottle that you can fill with your choice of floor cleaner and hot water. I like that I can control what kind of cleaner to use. We have a cat with severe asthma and I have to be aware of the products I use so as not to trigger an asthma attack. I like knowing what is in the cleaner I am using.
I also love the idea of having the water and cleaning solution in one neat little container rather than having to deal with a bucket of dirty water. I’m also a bit of a klutz. Having all the water confined means that there is no way I’m going to accidentally knock over the cleaning bucket. I have done that before. In fact I accidentally knocked a bottle of window cleaner on the floor that I was unaware about. When I discovered what had happened the fluid had leaked into our flooring and caused it to “pucker” in one spot. This is why I don’t trust myself with a bucket full of water and cleaning solution.
To use the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop simply pull the little trigger on the handle to release the cleaning solution on to the floor. Then use the mop head to clean is up. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
The pad even has a non-scratch scrubber to loosen up those stubborn spots.
Unlike other mopping systems, the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop has a reusable microfiber washable pad. Once you are done mopping simply hand wash the pad (or wash in the washer with a mild detergent) and then let air dry. The microfiber dries quickly.
It works by a trigger pull at the top of the handle. Just push the trigger to release the cleaning solution and mop away. Because you control the trigger, you can use as much or little as you need. The entire Reveal Mop system is lightweight, with durable materials to get the job done. Zoe even enjoys helping since the mopping system is simple and lightweight.
I love the fact that you can reuse the mop head over and over again. You don’ thave to worry about running out of expensive one-time-only mop pads. Plus it’s more environmentally friendly because you don’t have used mop pads littering the landfills.
You can also use the Rubbermaid Reveal Mop without the wet solution if you want to dry mop your floors to remove pet hair (which we have a lot of), dust and crumbs. The mop pad is large and can pick up as much as 50% more dirt and dust compared to traditional mops.
I was surprised by how lightweight the mop is. The solution does add a little weight to it but not that much. It also does not require batteries which is another reason why this is more eco-friendly (no batteries ending up in the landfills).
The mop is safe on all floor types too including laminate (like what I have), hardwood, tile and vinyl.
You can find the Rubbermad Reveal Spray Mop at many retail locations across the country including Target and Walmart. It retails for $19.99.
