Take your tunes on the go with SuperTooth: Disco 2

Music

The official start to the Summer season is just a few weeks away. That means plenty of barbecues, picnics, pool parties and camping trips. When you are enjoying the wonderful weather along with great food and fun people what else do you need to make it even better? Awesome music of course!

If you have a backyard soirée or get together chances are you have some speakers on your stereo system that you can point in the direction of your guests to provide them with some music. Sometimes that is not possible, especially if you happen to be some place where you can’t plug in your stereo. That is why you need the SuperTooth: Disco 2 portable speaks with Bluetooth connectivity and a rechargeable battery.

I was sent a Disco 2 free to review. The first time I used it I immediately fell in love with it.

I plugged it in right away to charge. It charged for maybe less than 30 minutes before I saw the green light which meant it was charged. I’m not sure if they are pre-charged before they ship from the factory or not.

Syncing the Disco 2 with my iPhone took mere seconds to do. My music was ready to play on the Disco 2. I’m even “technologically challenged” at times and I was able to get it to work right away with no problems.

You can control your music either through your iPhone or the Disco 2. The Disco 2 has controls on top including up/down for the volume, power, skip to the next song on your play list or go back to the previous song. You can also use your phone to control it as well.

You can stream music wirelessly to this unit from any cell phone, tablet, computer or mp3 player that supports Bluetooth A2DP. I just happen to have an iPhone.

If you don’t have any of these devices you can also use the speaker with devices equipped with aptX. The Disco 2 will maintain its original, high-quality audio output as if it were directly connected via a cable. It also comes with cables too in case you need them.

The output in this little speaker is amazing. It gets loud – and I do mean LOUD. You wouldn’t think such a tiny package could pack such a “punch”.  It kicks out 16 watts RMS audio power with two speakers in front and a bass reflex system on the back.

I used my Disco 2 yesterday when I went to the doctor’s office. I had a bit of a drive and I wanted to see if I could use it to listen to music off my cellphone. I only have a radio in my car and sometimes I really want to listen to the music I have on my iPhone.

As soon I was in my car and ready to drive I put the Disco 2 on the front passenger seat. I then turned the music on my phone and powered on the Disco 2. Once the music started to play I adjusted the volume to what I wanted and then put my phone away.

It was GREAT to be able to listen to MY music in the car for a change. No more scanning through radio stations to find something that interests me. All my music was right at my fingertips (I should say that I never touched the unit unless I was stopped at a red light – I’m a careful driver :-)).

I keep the Disco 2 on my desk when I’m not using it outside of the home. That way I can listen to music at any time when I’m working.

Another great thing I like about the unit is that its portable and I can take it with me from room to room when I am cleaning rather than blast the music off my computer like I used to. I’m sure my nieghbor’s will appreciate that too.

The Disco 2 would be GREAT for backyard barbecues, picnics. lazy days by the beach and even camping. It’s 100% portable.

The speaker has a rechargeable battery. It can play music none stop for 3-10 hours depending on the volume level (per 2 hour charge). That is plenty of time to enjoy your music. Plus you can easily plug it in and recharge it if you need more music time.

I think this would make a great gift for a graduate, a child going off to college, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. My teenagers are begging me to give them my Disco 2. They both want it but since I have only one I’m going to keep it for myself. However I have put the Disco 2 on my list for possible Christmas gifts or birthday gifts this year.

The Disco 2 retails for $99.99 and is available in a variety of colors including green (like mine), blue, pink, red, white and black. You can find one to match any decor. Since they are small they don’t take up much room and you can easily hide it when not in use.

We need something like this for when my grandson goes out to play. He has lots of music on his momma’s iphone and he could be hearing while he is out having a good time.
