I’m not a fan of summer time. While I do enjoy blue skies, barbecues and the beach, I am not a fan of heat and humidity. I’m also a bit on the “plump” side so wearing shorts is not something I’m overly happy about either.
I know plenty of people who cannot wait for the summer months. They look forward to the outdoor activities, vacations and wearing their favorite shoes – sandals and flip flops.
Sometimes your feet are not yet ready for sandals and flip flops. If you are like me your feet often get super dry and even crack (the heels that is). The last thing you want to do is step out wearing your favorite pair of sandals with gross, dry feet and cracked heels. You want your feet to look just as beautiful as the shoes you are wearing.
If your feet are not “sandal ready” yet there are a few things you can do.
I’m a big fan of the Ped Egg. It’s a bit gross when you think about it, but it really does help to remove a lot of dead skins. I would recommend using it every few weeks. In between those times use a pumice stone on your feet when you take a shower or bath.
After your shower or bath apply a really good conditioner all over your feet and let it soak in. Use conditioner on your feet every day, even if you don’t take a shower/bath.
At night you should consider using your favorite foot moisturizer and slathering it on your feet and putting cotton socks on your feet. Do this just before you go to bed. When you wake up in the morning you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much better your feet look and feel. Use the overnight sock method every few weeks as well to ensure that your feet are looking good year round.
If you are looking for a great foot cream to use, try Champneys Spa Treatment Foot Butter.
A skin-conditioning blend of olive butter with tea tree, peppermint and orange oils is designed to gently exfoliate, smooth and condition dry, rough or hard skin on the feet while leaving them re-energized and smelling fresh. Retail value $8.99.
I’ve been using Champneys Spa Treatment Foot Butter for a couple of weeks now. I use it all over my feet and toes.
The smell is lovely. I smell the peppermint more so than the tea tree. I don’t notice a citrus scent. Mostly just a very light, creamy peppermint scent.
I love butters. They are so much more rich than lotions and creams. However sometimes butters take forever to absorb into the skin. I didn’t have that problem with the Champneys Spa Treatment Foot Butter. It absorbed in a fair amount of time.
I do like how it makes my feet feel after I apply it. I think it’s the peppermint that makes them feel a bit tingly (in a good way). I can see why they mention in the product description that the butter helps to re-energize your feet. This butter is a great way to soothe tired feet after a long day.
It does help to soften and moisturize your skin. I would firs recommend that you remove all dry skin first (with a Ped Egg or pumice stone) then use the Champneys daily to prevent your skin from drying out again. If your feet are already smooth and free of dry patches then the Champneys Foot Butter will help to keep your skin from drying out.
Champneys also has a Spa Treatment Foot Scrub ($7.99).
This intensively rich, nourishing foot butter blends shea butter, Vitamin E and energizing peppermint and orange essential oils, to leave tired feet feeling soothed and soft.
It sounds nice and would be ideal to use prior to the butter. However I have not tried this product so I cannot really provide any feedback on how well it works.
