Yesterday was the first time my family and I have ever ate at a Sonic Drive-in. We don’t have one local to where we live, but there is one upstate near where my father lives. Yesterday we happened to be in the area so we decided to stop at Sonic for lunch. I also wanted to try out their new freshly brewed green iced teas that I have heard about. I love green tea, and I also love iced tea, especially in the warmer weather months. I find it very refreshing.
Sonic Drive-in is an interesting concept. You pull your car into one of the parking spots and place your order via the little two-way intercom. You can even pay directly from the intercom which is a cool feature. Your food is then delivered by a Sonic employee right to your car (there are tables if you prefer not to eat in your car). We had two waitresses. One was on roller skates, the other one was not. I don’t know how they can carry the food and beverages while on skates.
I ordered the Sweet Green Tea Ice Tea. They have a diet version but I didn’t want to have a sugar substitute. Actually I would have preferred if they had an unsweetened version. I don’t drink sweetened ice tea.
The Sweet Green Ice Tea tasted exactly like freshly brewed green tea. I have never had green tea that was cold before so this was a nice change. I usually only drink green tea hot.
Sonic’s Chef Claes Petersson did a behind-the-scenes video where he shares with viewers more about Sonic’s new sweet and green iced teas and well as how well the flavors work together. He even offers tips on how you can re-create your favorite flavor combination at home. Sonic offers consumers a tasty variety of flavors you could add into your green tea ice tea. I opted to have it “plain” since I am already a fan of green tea.
Mmmm….after watching the video I could go for another tall cold glass of green tea ice tea!
While we were there we couldn’t help but pick up some of their delicious desserts after our lunch. I opted for a Coke Float. It was so good! I ordered a small and it was huge! Next time I’ll order the mini version. My husband ordered a medium Sonic Blast and it was huge too.
Now that we’ve had a chance to try out a Sonic Drive-in I’m sure we’ll make it a point to stop there again the next time we’re in the neighborhood.
Sonic would like to give a lucky reader a $25.00 gift card so that they can try out the new Green Tea Iced Teas for themselves. Thank you Sonic!
