Oh what I wouldn’t give to have a bed – a REAL bed that is.
We live in a one bedroom condo. The dining room was converted to a bedroom for our daughter when she was younger. When our son came along the room was OK for them for a while but then they rapidly outgrew the small room. We couldn’t even fit two beds in there. We had no choice but to give up our bedroom and let the kids have it. We converted their old room back into a dining room and my husband and I ended up sleeping on a sofa bed.
Have you ever slept on a sofa bed? Have you ever slept on one for YEARS? It’s pure torture!
We got rid of our first sofa bed and bought an air mattress to sleep on. Just so you know air mattresses are NOT made for sleeping on every night and they do not go well with cats (especially five of them). We ended up with holes in both of them and tossed them away.
We next tried a daybed/trundle combo. It was a day bed during the day and at night my husband would pull his bed out from under the day bed (which was my bed) and pop it up. That wasn’t as bad as the sofa bed or air mattress, but it was hard to sleep next to my husband and having a daybed instead of a regular couch was awkward for guests.
We ended up getting rid of the daybed and trundle and going back to a sofa bed – again. It’s like we went full circle. Mean while I have a beautiful headboard/footboard form our Queen size bed wasting away in the basement storage room. Sigh…
Our condo is on the market again, but only for a short time. So far we’ve had ZERO interest.
When most people look to buy a house they are looking for things like more room, a garage, fireplace, pool… not us. We just want our own bedroom so we can sleep on a REAL BED again. How sad and pathetic is that?
When we FINALLY get a bed again I am going to buy the best mattress we can afford. After all these years (12 and counting…) of NOT sleeping on a bed I’m going to make sure we have only the best of the best.
One mattress that is high on my “must have” list is a mattress from the Sealy Posturepedic® Hybrid Series. I like the idea of their gel memory foam that is more effective at removing excess heat. If there is one thing I hate it’s trying to sleep at night when I’m feeling overheated. I want to be as cool as possible.
Some of the features for the Sealy Posturepedic® Hybrid Series that stand out to me are;
The Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid features a half-and-half design that delivers the cooling comfort of gel memory foam in the top half and the deep support of titanium alloy springs in the bottom half.
Crafted with advanced OptiCool™ gel memory foam which is more effective at removing excess heat than standard gel memory foam alone.
OptiCool™ is the only gel memory foam on the market to be fused with Outlast™, which is more effective at removing excess heat than standard gel memory foam alone.
In the bottom half of the hybrid mattress is Sealy’s patented titanium alloy Apex™ coils, a two-stage coil design which is softer at the top for comfort and firmer underneath to provide superior support.
Each coil is also individually encased to minimize motion transfer between sleep partners.
Did you know that Sealy recently launched a monthly giveaway on their Facebook page where they are giving away a MATTRESS?
From now until May 2014 Sealy will award one Facebook fan with a new mattress (each month!).
In order to enter you simply need to fill out the short entry form found here, https://www.facebook.com/sealymattress/app_449948625079394.
I would LOVE to win a mattress from Sealy. The only downside is that I don’t have a bed to put it one.
FYI… if you are a fan of Sealy you should check out their Sealy Schwag Shop. I have a shirt from there with text written in whipped cream that says “Whatever you do in bed, Sealy supports it“. LOL!
They also have another funny one that says “Made on a Sealy“.
If you enter the mattress giveaway (I hope you do!) – good luck! If you happen to win I’d love to hear about it.
