Summer is winding down. Before you know it the kids will be back to school and vacation will only be a faded memory.
Even though the summer is rushing by there is still plenty of time left to gather your family and friends and enjoy each other’s company and make memories.
When it’s hot and humid outside the last thing I want to do is an outdoor activity. That is why I always try to look for fun things to do inside. One thing my family can always agree upon is having a Family Movie Night – even though agreeing on what movie to watch is sometimes a challenge. 🙂
Thank goodness for Movies on Demand. Movies on Demand offers consumers new releases of popular film titles. Take for example the movies available this August from Movies on Demand.
I have never heard of The Sapphires before. I MUST watch that from Movies on Demand. I met Chris O’Dowd a few months ago at a press junket for Epic. He’s HYSTERICAL! He was such a pleasure to talk to. A Place Beyond the Pines, Pain and Gain and Gatsby I would also like to see. What I love about Movies on Demand is that I can watch these movies any time it’s convenient for me and not have to worry about late fees or having to return the movie within 24 hours. I can watch it from the comfort of my own home whenever it’s convenient for me.
Family Movie Night doesn’t mean “family only”. You are welcome to invite family, friends, neighbors and anyone else you want to.
Movies on Demand sent me some tasty goodies and Movies on Demand logo items to help me put together a great Movie Night for my family and friends.
If you are planning a movie night it’s always fun to build a theme around the movie you are watching. Some ideas might be to offer movie watchers foods and/or snacks inspired by the movie you are watching, movie these crafts and/or activities and movie theme decorations.
I would LOVE to host a Gatsby inspired movie night for family and friends. That would be awesome! I can picture women wearing vintage dresses with layers of pearl necklaces, men in suits and everyone drinking fancy cocktails. For the decorations I would want a lot of “bling” such as gold utensils, crystal glasses and a lot of sparkle every where.
I think a Gatsby themed movie night would be a lot of fun, but probably not for kids.
I told my daughter she could invite a few friends over this coming Saturday afternoon for a movie afternoon (we have plans Saturday night). I was thinking of ordering Epic from Movies on Demand. Many of her friends have not seen the movie yet.
I have a lot of Epic activity sheets that I can print out for all the guests (right now it looks like 7 kids in total).
To go along with the theme I am thinking about picking up some recycled (and recyclable) cups, plates and napkins (keeping with a “green” and “Earth friendly” theme). I am also thinking about picking up some small potted plants to set out on the table. I was in the grocery store earlier today and they had several small potted plants for a good price. I’m not sure if I would give them as “favors” or not. These are teens. I’m not sure if they would want or have a use for a plant. What I might do is re-pot them and keep them or give them to my father so he can plant them in his yard. We’ll see…
I plan on serving plenty of chips and other snacks, but I was thinking of also serving raw veggies (carrots, cucumbers, celery, peppers…). I want to keep with the them of “plants” and “nature”. I think some of Earth’s “natural” snack foods (unlike chips and cookies) would be nice to serve my daughter’s guests too.
I’m still working on ideas. When I Google “Epic theme party” I find suggestions on how to throw and epic party – not one based on the film. By “epic” people mean a party that won’t soon be forgotten. LOL.
If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment and let me know. I can use all the help I can get. And since we have the party set for Saturday afternoon time is of the essence.
