Do you have a Sonic restaurant near you? We don’t but we make it a point of stopping by there whenever we are upstate near where my father and stepmother live. We’re also planning on moving to that area too so I’m sure we’ll be frequent Sonic customers.
Sonic is known for it’s yummy food. If you haven’t been there lately you should really make it a point to get there ASAP so that you can take advantage of the Summer of Shakes. Sonic is offering patrons a variety of classic, and unique, ice cream shake flavors.
I love ice cream shakes! ♥ In fact, just writing about it I am craving one right now!
We were there a couple of weeks ago with my cousin’s daughter who was staying with us for several days. She had never been to a Sonic before and really wanted to try it out. So we swung by there for lunch before heading back down to where we live.
Me, my daughter and my cousin’s daughter all had grilled chicken sandwiches. My son had chicken strips. For dessert we had ice cream (except my son). My daughter had an ice cream cone and my cousin’s daughter had an caramel ice coffee drink (I’m not sure what the specific name of it was – a Java Chiller of some sort). As for me I wanted a shake. The only problem was – which one!
Let’s see… I could have chose from…
- Fresh Banana
- Oreo Cheesecake
- Strawberry Cheesecake
- Cherry Cheesecake
- Strawberry Cream Pie
- Banana Cream Pie
- Chocolate Covered Banana
- Chocolate Cream Pie
- Coconut Cream Pie
- Peanut Butter & Bacon
- Strawberry Banana
- Chocolate Covered Strawberry
- Peanut Butter Banana
- Peanut Butter Cookie
- Peanut Butter and Jelly
- Peanut Butter Fudge
- Hot Fudge
- Peanut Butter
Now you tell me – how easy would this decision be for you? For me it was impossible. There were so many flavors I wanted to try.
My kids were begging me to get the Peanut Butter & Bacon flavor. As interesting as it sounds I didn’t want to take a chance of not liking it.
The cheesecake flavors all sounded yummy, but it was hard to narrow down which one.
The kids kept giving me their opinions, only because they wanted to try the shake after I purchased is. They wanted me to get the flavor THEY wanted, not so much what I wanted.
I ended up getting Strawberry Banana. There was just something about it that appealed to me at that time. I’m happy with my decision too. The shake was SO GOOD! It was thick, rich and creamy – just the way a shake is suppose to be. No one wants a watery shake. The thicker the shake the better. You could have eaten this with a spoon, that is how thick it was.
They even included whip cream and a cherry on top.
The kids all had to try it for themselves. My daughter and my cousins’ daughter both said they should have got a shake instead of what they did get (not that it wasn’t good – they both finished their desserts). They both told me the next time they go to Sonic they will get a shake.
I never got back there with my cousin’s daughter. We were there this past Saturday but it was too early to get a shake (it was more like breakfast time – more on that in another review post). So I owe my kids another visit to Sonic so they can enjoy a shake as part of their Summer of Shakes promotion.
Have you been to Sonic lately? Have you tried one of their shakes? Do you have a favorite? Is there a flavor mentioned that you would love to try? Feel free to comment.
*I received a free gift card in order to try out one of the shakes. There was no other compensation. The opinions expressed are my own and not influenced in any way.
