My family has only really gone on three vacations in the past 17 years. Once to Lake George (NY) for three days. Another time to Point Pleasant (NJ) for three days. Our longest vacation was the week we spent in Orlando at a condo that my mother rented for me and my family as well as my sister and her family. My mom made all the arrangements including air travel, car rental and of course the condo rental. We just had to pay for park tickets and meals.
These days when I travel it’s usually only for a blogger event where all the arrangements are made for me. To be honest with you I wouldn’t know where to begin if I were to plan a vacation for my family. Air travel would probably be the easiest thing to arrange. Finding the perfect hotel and knowing what attractions to go and see that would be enjoyable for my teenagers as well as my husband and I would be tricky.
There are plenty of travel sites on the Internet. How do you choose the right one?
Personally I would want to use a site that has reviews and recommendations from REAL people, so so-called “experts”. I often think the experts are paid by the hotels themselves just to get good reviews. I value reviews from real people more so than experts.
Imagine if there was a travel site where families could share their experiences so you would know which hotels to consider, and which to avoid? Wouldn’t it also be nice to hear from families about what local attractions appealed to their children, as well as their teens?
There IS such a travel site. It’s called MiniTime.
MiniTime is the ultimate resource for family travel and leisure. Only MiniTime offers parents a combination of expert family travel advide, a community of like-minded parents, and powerful user tools to help parents plan, book and share their family travel experiences.
Check out this informative video that tells you more about MiniTime (it’s entertaining too – I love the animation).
I love that this site’s focus is on family travel. It’s not for business people, or honeymooning couples. It’s all about family travel.
I also love that you can to read reviews from REAL people. And see photos of the hotel rooms, hotels and area attractions from real people too. They are not staged professional photos that only highlight the good stuff.
One day I want to take my family to Virginia Beach. I mostly want them to experience crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It’s too far to do in one day from where we live in New York. So I’d love to stay a few days in Virginia Beach.
I checked out Virginia Beach on MiniTime, using my kids ages (14 and 16) and found a few hotels that would be suitable for my family (one even very budget friendly too). I also love that MiniTime mapped out area attractions that would be suitable for my teens.
I also found the Trip Tips helpful. One recently posted article tells you Four Ways to Save Huge at Orlando Theme Parks. For example, I didn’t know you can purchase tickets in advance to save $$$. I’ll have to remember that when we are finally able to take my family back to Disney and the other area parks.
Overall I think it’s a handy resource for families – most especially ones that love to travel.
