Breakfast time in my home can be a bit crazy at times. Both of my kids go to the high school which means they are up and out the door early (their bus comes at 6:45 AM).
Both of my kids are like me. They don’t like to roll out of bed and eat breakfast right away. They like to wait a bit and then have breakfast. Unfortunately that time is usually when we are rushing to get out the door so as not to miss the bus. I’m the same way. I get up around 5:45 and usually don’t have breakfast until around 8:00 AM. I’m fine with a cup of coffee around 7:00 or so.
I love breakfast ideas that the kids can “grab and go”. Sometimes I made them breakfast burritos because they are so easy to make and my kids can literally eat the as they are rushing out the door.
Both of my kids love yogurt. We’re a yogurt loving family – with the exception of my husband (he doesn’t like yogurt). My kids literally have at least one yogurt every day. They have loved yogurt since they were old enough to eat it when they were babies.
Greek yogurts are a new favorite of ours. We love how rich, thick and creamy Greek yogurt is. Sometimes it tastes more like a dessert than a snack.
Have you tried Yoplait® Greek yogurts yet? Mmm… they are delish. I especially love the Blueberry flavor. You can see chunks of REAL Blueberries in it when you open up a cup. My kids love the Blueberry flavor too, but Strawberry Raspberry was also popular with my kids.
Yoplait® Greek is also available in Tangerine (which I MUST try – that sounds good!), Coconut, Pineapple and Vanilla. These are blended varieties which means the fruit and yogurt is already mixed together. Other yogurts have the fruit on top or the bottom and you have to mix them up. Not Yoplait® Greek, it’s already mixed for you.
Yoplait® Greek is also available in a 100 calorie version in eight delicious flavors.
Yoplait® Greek (the blended variety) has 140 calories per serving (Coconut is 150), ZERO fat and a whopping 11 grams of protein. I like that my kids are getting that extra protein in their diet in a delicious way.
Did know that you can combine yogurt, granola and fresh fruit into a frozen breakfast far – perfect for on-the-go?
Check out this recipe for Frozen Blueberry Breakfast Bars.
Frozen Blueberry Breakfast Bars
Get your yogurt and granola in a frozen bar that you can “grab and go” for breakfast or for a snack any time of day.
Prep Time: 15 Min
Start to Finish: 3 Hr 25 Min
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups Cascadian Farm® organic oats & honey granola
1/4 cup butter, melted
3 containers (5.3 oz each) Yoplait® Greek blueberry yogurt
1/4 cup fresh blueberries
2 tablespoons Cascadian Farm® organic oats & honey granola, coarsely crushed
Directions:
- Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, mix 2 1/2 cups granola and the melted butter. Firmly press in bottom of ungreased 8-inch square pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool 10 minutes on cooling rack. Freeze about 5 minutes or until cold.
- Spoon yogurt over crust; gently spread to cover. Sprinkle with blueberries and crushed granola. Freeze about 3 hours or until firm.

These bars can be stored tightly wrapped in the freezer up to 2 weeks.
If you can’t find Cascadian Farm® organic oats & honey granola (look in the organic food section) you can use another type of granola.
My daughter and I made these bars. My kids couldn’t wait to try them. They ended up having a “bar” for snack. They also had another bar when they got home from school. These bars are fine for either an on-the-go breakfast or a snack (even a dessert).
Two things I learned when making these.
1 – Make sure you use the right size pan. I don’t have an 8″ pan (mine is larger). The larger the pan the less yogurt per bar. Our bars came out very thin as a result (but they were still edible).
2 – As tempted as you are to try them right away make sure you let them freeze for the right amount of time otherwise you’ll have a hard time cutting them.
You can make these with any Yoplait® Greek flavored yogurt and any fruit. The fruit doesn’t even have to match up – meaning you can try this with Strawberry Raspberry Yogurt and fresh Blueberries, or use the Blueberry yogurt with fresh strawberries.
I want to try making these with Yoplait® Greek Pineapple with fresh Pineapple pieces and the Yoplait® Greek Coconut topped with roasted Coconut (I LOVE roasted Coconut!). The possibilities are endless.
Have you ever tried Yoplait® Greek yogurt? Do you have a favorite flavor? Can you thin of other recipes you can make with yogurt?

I will have to try that brand of greek yogurt. I have tried a couple of other brands and hated it…. it tasted sour to me.

I think these look great! I love the blueberry Yoplait yogurt. I am just not the biggest fan of Greek yogurt. I think I will make these with the regular Yoplait and see how they turn out.
