The Cellar Acacia Wood Lazy Susan from Macy’s (giveaway ends 12/31/13)

Do you do a lot of entertaining over the holiday season? I do, but not as much as I would love to. Our home is small so I am unable to invite as many people as I want to come over. My dream is to have a nice house with a yard. I think I would host parties practically every weekend. I love being a host.

Food is essential when it comes to hosting a great party. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything needs to be taken into consideration. Sometimes it’s as simple as a bag of chips and some salsa. Other times it’s a bit more elaborate with fancy Hors d’oeuvres. Personally I enjoy hosting both casual parties and fancy parties. It all depends on the occasion.

When you are serving your guests great foods you’ll want to have nice dishes and serving platters to serve the food and treats with. I have a nice assortment of casual dishes to fancy heirloom platters that used to belong to my great-grandmother.

One of the newest additions to my serving wear is a gorgeous “Lazy Susan”. It’s The Cellar Acacia Wood Lazy Susan and it’s available for purchase at Macy’s.

The Cellar Acacia Wood Lazy Susan is made with Acacia Wood and comes with four beautiful white porcelain serving dishes that fit perfectly on top of the wood base. Like every Lazy Susan the base spins allowing guests access to each dish.

The porcelain dishes are dishwasher and microwave safe. The wood base has to be hand washed.

My family is not able to host a Christmas gathering this year due to a family member who has been very sick lately. I still wanted to put my Acacia Wood Lazy Susan to good use. I am currently using it as a candy server for my family. Each bowl is filled with holiday candies.

My apologies for the horrible quality of the photos. My camera broke and it’s not worth the money to fix it (it would cost more to fix it then it’s worth). So for the time being I a stuck with my cellphone camera.

If I was hosting a holiday party I would certainly put the Lazy Susan to great use. I would most likely use it to serve an assortment of cheese and crackers. I would put crackers in two of the serving dishes and an assortment of gourmet cheeses in the other two. With its rotating features guests could pick and choose from the crackers and cheeses they want to try without asking people to pass the platter or have to get up to retrieve them.

I also think The Cellar Acacia Lazy Susan would be a great way to serve a variety of dips. The bowls are not big (deep) enough for a lot of chips, but they would be great for a variety of dips. It would be great to offer guests four different dips to enjoy with their chips. The rotating feature would allow them to try all four varieties.

The Lazy Susan could also work to serve condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo and relish.

Another fun idea that comes to mind is making homemade sundaes. You could put a variety of toppings in each dish (nuts, candies, sprinkles, cookies…) and allow your family (or guests) to create their own sundaes and choose from the available toppings.

The ideas are endless.

This beautiful “must have” for your holiday (and year round) parties, and even daily use, can be found at Macys and Macys.com. It retails for $50.00.
