Available on DVD January 14, 2014 is the film Big Sur. The film stars Jean-Marc Barr (The Big Blue), Kate Bosworth (Superman Retur”), Josh Lucas (American Psycho), Stana Katic (ABC’s “Castle”) Anthony Edwards (NBC’s “ER”), and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill).
Big Sur is based upon the novel by the same name written by Jack Kerouac. The novel and movie depict his time spent in the Big Sur woods.
In an attempt to heal from the deterioration caused by the pressures of sudden fame and too much alcohol, famous Beat author Jack Kerouac escapes to an isolated, mist-shrouded cabin in the primitive landscape of the Big Sur woods. Instead of finding the peace he desires, he is foiled once again by his own inner demons and sets off on a visceral collision course of paranoia, sex, delirium tremens, misery and madness.
Here is the film’s trailer for your entertainment.
I love the landscape shown in this film. Big Sur looks beautiful.
I’m curious about the tag line – “Some souls never stop searching”. That is interesting.
The DVD runs 100 minutes and is currently pending rated-R.
Have you ever read the novel Big Sur? Have you read any of Jack Kerouac’s novels?
