Movie Review – Be My Valentine – Available on DVD January 14, 2014

 Be My Valentine

Are you a fan of Hallmark Channel movies? I find it funny that me and my husband can always tell if a movie is a Hallmark Channel movie almost immediately. There is a certain “aura” about them.

I recently popped in a DVD to watch called Be My Valentine. Within minutes my husband, who was doing work on his computer, said to me “This must be a Hallmark Channel movie”. I asked him how he knew and he said he just knew.

Be My Valentine is a typical Hallmark Channel movie. A bit cheesy, but done with heart.

William Baldwin stars as Dan Farrell, a hardworking, dedicated fire fighter. He’s a widower who is raising his teenager son on his own. Love is the last thing on his mind.

One afternoon his firehouse is dispatched to tend to an incident at a floral shop in town. It turns out not to be a fire but rather a smoking generator. While at the call he meets the shops owners (Wendy) – one of which is a friend of his friend high school. The other is a young lady name Kate.

Kate is recently single after breaking up with her boyfriend when he chose to move out west over their relationship.

Wendy encourages Kate to get to know Dan better. She knows Dan is single and a great guy.

Dan and Kate slowly get to know each other and it’s obvious that they are attracted to one another, although Dan admits to his son that he’s not looking for a relationship. He lived a full life with his deceased wife. His son encourages him to start dating because he’s got so much life left to share with someone.

Dan’s son, Tyler, also has a budding romance with one of Dan’s co-worker’s daughter, Rebecca.

Together Dan and Tyler try to win over the ladies in their lives in hopes of taking them to the Fireman’s Ball.

Things seem to be going great. Dan and Tyler even make handmade Valentines for their ladies. That is until Kate’s ex-boyfriend returns to own determined to not only win Kate over, but also to have her accept his proposal. Tyler’s also concerned about why his girlfriend was seen flirting with the popular boy in her school.

Win Dan and Tyler ever make it to the Fireman’s Ball with the ladies they love? Or will one of them end up broken hearted? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Be My Valentine available on DVD January 14, 2014.

The movie was sweet. It didn’t pack a lot of “bells and whistles”. It was also a bit predictable. None the less it was still entertaining. This is the kind of movie that you enjoy during the afternoon with a cup of tea and a snugly blanket. It’s heart warming and “happy”.

This is very much a “chic flick”. My husband had no interest in watching it.

If you are looking for a movie to watch that is not filled with blood, guts, sex, violence, nudity and foul language then Be My Valentine is a good option. William Baldwin is also very charming in this film.

Look for Be My Valentine where movies are sold.

Here is the trailer for your enjoyment.
