Today I am heading across the Hudson River to Tarrytown, New York to visit the factory that makes Capri Sun juice drink pouches.
Did you know that Capri Sun has been around since 1969? It originally launched in Germany. Capri Sun didn’t make it’s way to the United States until 1981.
I used to drink Capri Sun when I was a teen. Now my kids are teenagers and they like to drink Capri Sun too. It’s interesting when my kids enjoy things that I enjoyed at their age.
If you are unfamiliar with Capri Sun it’s a line of juice drinks that you drink from a foil-like pouch through a small straw that comes attached to the pouch. The pouch also has the ability to stand upright making it convenient to use and enjoy.
Capri Sun comes in many flavors and different varieties including Capri Sun Original, Roarin’ Waters Flavored Water
Beverage, Super V Fruit and Vegetable Juice Drink and 100% Juice.
My personal favorite is the Roarin’ Waters variety in the grape flavor.
The pouches are convenient to carry. They fit easily in most lunch boxes and can be tucked inside a backpack or tote bag. They don’t have to be kept refrigerated either (except one it’s opened). They are more refreshing when they are chilled but you can still fully enjoy them at room temperature too.
One thing that I really like about the brand is that they care about the environment and found a unique way to recycle and repurpose the pouches. Pouches can be sent to a company called TerraCycle who turns the pouches into useful products like lunch totes and bags.
Your school can sign up for this special program and collect Capri Sun packages from students. The school then sends them in using a pre-paid envelope. In turn the school will get money for the pouches that they submit. Not only does the school make money, it keeps the pouches out of landfills and it teaches students about recycling.
You can learn more about the program here – Earn cash for your school or organization.
I enjoy going on factor tours. I think it’s really cool to get a behind the scenes look at how things are made. I think it gives you a better appreciation and understanding of a brand when you see what goes on to deliver it to consumers.
I have to wear a hairnet tomorrow. That should be interesting.
I will be taking pictures and I plan on sharing my tour experience and what I learned later on this week. I hope you’ll be on the look out for that post.
Capri Sun is part of the Kraft family of products. If you would like to learn more visit www.CapriSun.com. You can also find the brand on Facebook and Twitter. On the brand’s Facebook page you can find some interesting FAQs and what other moms are saying about Capri Sun.
Do you like Capri Sun? Do you have a favorite flavor or variety? Feel free to share your thoughts.
