If you are like me, chances are you might have a few cosmetics or perfumes hiding out in your dresser drawer or cabinet that you have yet to open. Maybe you accidently picked up the wrong shade and didn’t feel like going back for an exchange. Or maybe your friend gave you a bottle of perfume that you know you’ll never use.
If you happen to have unopened makeup and/or perfume I have a wonder way you can put them to great use.
Family-to-Family, a (501)(c)(3) non-profit has a special Valentine’s Day campaign that they are working on to help the needy.
Family-t0-Family is look for people to donate their unused cosmetics and perfumes to their organization. They will then distribute what they collect to homeless shelters.
Even unused/unopened cosmetic and perfume samples would be great to donate too.
Family-to-Family feels that the cosmetics and perfumes can help put a bit a sparkle back into some broken lives. After all, everyone deserves to look their best.
I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, but when I do I know it makes me feel better and gives me more confidence. Just the other day I colored my hair and got rid of the awful gray, white and silver hairs. When I saw how much better I looked as a result it made me feel great the entire day. I even went to the mall to run some errands – and I hate going to the mall. I think it’s because I felt I looked good which made me feel good. I’m sure many others can relate.
You can mail donations to:
PO Box 255
Hastings on Hudson, NY 10706
If you are unable to mail out donations maybe you can check within your local community to see if you local shelters would accept the donations.
In addition to this campaign, Family-to-Family has other creative ways that you and your family can get involved and perform a bit of “random acts of kindness” – from sponsoring a family to helping children have a birthday cake that their families might not otherwise be able to provide their child.
You can find a great list of ideas here – Share Your Bounty.
What do you think of the special Valentine’s Day campaign to collect new/unused cosmetics and perfumes? What ways have your family helped your community? Feel free to share your thoughts.
