Mother’s Day Gift Idea: Orchard-Fresh Basket from The Fruit Company

The Fruit Company

With Mother’s Day fast approaching I’m sure many people are stuck on what to get that special lady in their life. Sure, flowers and chocolates are always appreciated, as are gifts like perfume and jewelry. If you are looking into a truly unique gift idea, consider a fresh fruit basket from The Fruit Company.

I love fresh fruits. I am a big fan of our local farmer’s markets. Nothing beats fruit fresh from the tree. Whenever my family goes apple picking I have a hard time resisting the urge to take a bite out of the apples that are just plucked from the tree.

I was recently introduced to The Fruit Company. The Fruit Company is a family owned company located on Oregon. They are one of the leading online retailers for high quality fresh fruit baskets and gourmet gifts (Top 50 “Best of the Web”). They have even grabbed the attention of Oprah Winfrey and were featured in her “O” Magazine.

In addition to providing consumers with the freshest fruits, packed by hand, they also keep our environment in mind with ecological orchard management methods, agricultural water conservation and environmentally friendly packaging and shipping materials.

The Fruit Company also partners with organizations that help “at risk” youths and the prevention of childhood hunger. They also promote the importance of proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

For Mother’s Day, The Fruit Company offers gifts that range in price from $24.95 to $139.95. They have something for that special woman in your life to suit just about any budget.

The Fruit Company was kind enough to send me their Mother’s Day Classic Tower to try out. The gift set came with;

  • Blueberry Shortbread Cookies
  • Bellows Macaroon Brownie
  • Chocolate Covered Pears
  • Chocolate Covered Blueberries
  • Seattle Chocolates Lemon Ice White Chocolate Bar
  • Blueberry Short Bread Cookies Surrounded in a Lemon Fruit Confection.
  • Six sweet and juicy Anjou Pears

Can you say YUMMY?

The Chocolate Covered Blueberries are out of this world delicious. I could have easily eaten the entire package in one shot.

I have never had Chocolate Covered Pears before. I would never think to combine pears with chocolate but they go great together. The Chocolate Covered Pears are not actually a real pear dipped in chocolate but rather real bits of pear mixed in chocolate and covered in a chocolate candy coating.

I could not resist biting into one of the freshly picked pears the moment I opened the box. They were in perfect condition too. Lately our local grocery stores have been selling some pretty sad looking fruits. My husband said they look like they fell off the back of a truck. The pears from The Fruit Company were perfect. They were not marked up in any way and they were perfectly ripe and just begging my family to bite into them. I didn’t think to take a picture of one being enjoyed. My son, daughter and myself ate half the pears within hours of the gift basket arriving at my door.

I was really surprised by the Blueberry Short Bread Cookies surrounded in a Lemon Fruit Confection. At first glance they look like little lemon “balls” but they are really bits of Blueberry Short Bread surrounded in a very lemony flavored sweet coating. You get crunch and creaminess all in the same treat (crunch from the short bread, creaminess from the lemon coating). I think out of all the goodies that came with this set – aside from the juicy pears – this treat was my favorite.

The bite size Blueberry Shortbread Cookies are delicious too. Unlike other products I’ve received in gift baskets in the past, these cookies tasted like they were freshly made. They didn’t have that “stale” taste that some gift basket products tend to have. These taste like they went straight from the oven to the package to my front door.

The shortbread cookies are the perfect compliment to a cup of tea.

The only two products I haven’t tried yet are the Seattle Chocolates Lemon Ice White Chocolate and Bellows Macaroon Brownie. I’m saving them for another day.

As an added bonus all the boxes the goodies came in can be repurposed. I plan on reusing all the boxes. I already have the large box (the ones the pears came in) lined up to hold lose photos that we can’t fit I the photo albums. I plan on using the smaller boxes for gifts. They are very well made and pretty to look at.

Pretty boxes!
