Spring Clean Your Closets and Let PromotionalCodes.com and thredUP Help You Update Your Wardrobe

Closet Clutter

Have you started spring cleaning yet? I haven’t but that is because it’s still cold and miserable here in the Northeast. It hasn’t felt like spring yet. It still feels like winter. Sigh… I’m sure once the weather gets warmer and the gray skies are blue again I’ll have the “oomph” to start my spring cleaning.

One place that not many people think about cleaning out during their annual spring cleaning is their closets. Some people do take the time to replace their winter wardrobe with their warmer weather wardrobe, then put their winter clothes into storage. I wish I had the physical space to do something like that. Our home is just way too small. Instead I put my warmer weather clothes towards the front of the closet and my cold weather clothes in the back of the closet.

If you plan on doing something with your clothes when you are spring cleaning why not weed out the pieces you haven’t worn in a while or no longer fit and do away with them?

In the past I have donated my clothing to a local charity. Anything that was stained, ripped or just messy looking I would turn into rags or toss out.

If you are looking to make a little spending money you can send in your unwanted clothing to thredUP. ThredUP accepts women’s and children’s brand name designer clothing and resells it on their site.

thredUP

This is how it works;

Order a thredUP Clean Out Bag, and fill it with like-new quality women’s, juniors and kids clothing. Our Clothing Calculator can help you estimate your payout amount in advance.

Give the Clean Out Bag to your USPS carrier or drop it off at the nearest FedEx Office location. Your bag comes with a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label to ship back to us for FREE.

Our fashion resale professionals review your clothing and we pay up to 80% of the resale value. You can earn thredUP shopping credit, or simply cash out with PayPal.

Items that we don’t accept go to charitable partners or textile recycling companies. They can be mailed back to you as part of our Return Assurance program for a $12.99 shipping fee.

You can learn more at thredup.com/cleanout.

In addition to selling your unused clothing you can also purchase clothing from thredUP. Their quality experts ensure that the clothing is clean and in like-new condition (no stains, holes, pilling, scuffs or fading…). Thousands of items still retail their original price tags which means they were never worn/used. You can purchase the clothing at huge discounts.

This spring, thredUP will introduce a collection of premium designer brand pieces in a special shop on the site called thredUP X. You can send in items now from brands like Kate Spade New York, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch to earn more money than you would for everyday brands like GAP and Banana Republic.

I received a credit to try out thredUP for myself. I’m thrilled that they offer plus size clothing

I was able to score the following.

  • Lauren by Ralph Lauren Henley
  • Dana Buchman Top
  • American Eagle Shoes
  • Roz & Ali Blouse
  • Laney Bryant Sweater
  • Studio Works Sweater
  • Old Navy Capris

All but one of the items were brand new with the original tags on them. I spent $75. The same exact capris on the Old Navy website sell for $34.00. A similar sweater to the Lane Bryant Sweater I purchased is $39.99. If I were to buy these two items from Old Navy and Lane Bryant directly I would have spent the same amount of money that I did on threadUP, except with threadUP I also received four more tops and a pair of shoes for the same amount of money.

All of the times looked and felt “new”. Each was in excellent condition. The one top I purchased that was not new even looked brand new.

Sounds like a great business, I’m just worried once I send it in it’s not deemed trendy or good enough. I know with Platos closet I can show up there with 4 bags of clothes and they might offer to buy 3 or 4 tops.

Sounds like a neat idea and great way to clean your closet out. Mine really needs it. I love that you can make money doing it too.

I have never heard of ThredUP, I will look into that. I also donate a lot of clothing items each year. I am happy to do that.
