Does your family have favorite recipes that they never get tired of? I think all families have favorite recipes that get passed down from generation to generation.
I always try and serve my family meals that are “healthy” for them. I don’t like to rely on pre-packaged foods unless I have to. I would much rather rely on foods I can buy at our local farmer’s market. I would rather use foods that are free from toxins (like pesticides) as well as foods that have been genetically altered or essentially created in a lab.
After watching some food related documentaries I am even more cautious about what my family eats and drinks.
My family is big into soups and stews. They love it when I prepare a hearty stew on a chilly day or a pot of flavorful chicken soup for lunch or dinner.
When I make soups and stews I tend to go overboard on the vegetables. You can never have too many vegetables. Thankfully my family enjoys almost every vegetable (including spinach, broccoli and lima beans).
Two of my family’s favorites are my version of my mother in law’s Italian Wedding Soup. It pairs perfectly with a Spinach & Strawberry Salad made with spinach and fresh picked strawberries, topped with Feta Cheese. Mmm… I could go for some right now!
I’ve linked to both recipes in case you are interested in learning how I made them (both recipes are found in the same post).
Another family favorite is stew. I make it with pork or beef. One day I’d like to try it with chicken.
As I mentioned earlier my stews tend to be mostly vegetables. But you can find some meat if you look.
Making stew is easy. Its basically a pot full of your favorite vegetables, some tomato sauce, water, meat and seasonings. I cook mine in a crock pot and let it simmer all day long. I usually pair it with some slices of Italian bread (great for soaking up the juice too).
We do like to enjoy fun foods too. My kids used to love to watch the series iCarly. On the show they liked to make spaghetti tacos. I made them one night just for the fun of it and it was such a hit that we make them from time to time. We’ve even had them with chopped up meatballs mixed in with the spaghetti.
What you put in your body is important. You want to stay healthy and keep your family healthy. That is especially important when it comes to toxins and harsh chemicals. No one wants to ingest those.
Did you know that harmful toxins can find there way on to your dishes? Some dish detergents contain chemicals and harsh toxins that you certainly wouldn’t want being used on your family’s dishes.
Finish Power & Free and Finish Jet-Dry Power and Free are made with less harsh chemicals and still leave your dishes sparkling clean and shiny. The products use no chlorine bleach use less dyes and fragrances compared to other Finish products. Instead Finish Power & Free uses hydrogen peroxide. The micro-bubbles penetrate deep to remove the toughest food messes. It rinses cleanly leaving your dishes sparkling clean.
Finish Power & Free is the only dishwashing product NUK. NUK is the #1 manufacturer of pacifiers and orthodontic bottles. NUK has declared that Finish Power & Free is a trusted brand for the cleaning of their feeding and care items.
Years ago when my children were babies I would never, ever think about cleaning my bottles and pacifiers in the dishwasher because I didn’t want any residue left over that could be harmful to my kids. I always boiled them in a huge pot of filtered water. I wish Finish Power & Free was around back then. It would have made things A LOT easier for me.
If you concerned about what you feed your family, I’m sure you will comfort in knowing about products like Finish Power & Free.
Finish Power & Free products are found at many retail locations nation wide.
Quantum® Power & Free™ dishwasher detergent’s three-chamber capsule features powerful cleaning ingredients with Hydrogen Peroxide Action to attack the toughest food stains and leave a brilliant shine.
Jet-Dry® Power & Free™ rinse aid works during the rinse cycle to protect against spots, film, and residue.
I love the packets because they are so easy to use and much less messy than liquid detergents. Unlike powdered detergents (they are the worse!) the Power & Free packets don’t leave behind a clumpy mess that you need to scrap clean.
The Power & Free rinse aid is a must have for spot-free glasses. I don’t get to entertain as often as I’d like to, but when I do I want to make sure my drinking glasses are crystal clear and free from spots and residue.

We love stuffed cabbage. We make it a lot, it is a favorite. On weekends we make fresh homemade pizzas. For dessert we usually make a fruit salad, or a pie. Beef stew is also great!
