A few weeks ago I was pleased to announced that Little House on the Prairie Season One was related in a special deluxe remastered edition in honor of the series 40th Anniversary. I did a review on the DVD collection. If you would like to read my review you can find it here – Little House on the Prairie – Season One & Pilot Movie Deluxe Remastered Edition on Blu-ray/DVD. Please note that the giveaway for Season One is over and the winner has been selected. However read on for another great giveaway!
Little House on the Prairie Season Two has also been remastered to provide viewers with better picture quality and better sound quality. Each episode is also featured at it’s original broadcast length.
Season Two features over 20+ hours of family entertainment with all 22 episodes from season two.
In case you are not familiar with the series here is a brief synopsis;
Based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s best-selling and much-loved book series, “The Little House on the Prairie” chronicles the dramatic, gripping adventures of a young pioneer family’s struggle to build a new life for themselves on the American frontier of the 1870s. Season Two brings new challenges and unforgettable frontier adventures. When debts force Charles to work at several jobs, his entire family pitches in to earn the needed money. Mary’s gift for mathematics makes her the talk of the town. Charles helps an ailing widow find care for her three children and the Ingalls family celebrates the nation’s centennial with a joyous town party. Relive these favorite moments – and so many more – in this heartwarming collection that celebrates one of the most beloved TV series of all time.
Lionsgate Home Entertainment was kind enough to send me a copy of season two to review. I received the 5-disc DVD set which also comes with Digital Ultraviolet.
I haven’t watched all 20 hours – yet. But I will (I watched the entire first season already). I just started disc #3 of the five disc collection.
Season two features such memorable episodes as;
“Four Eyes” – When Mary receives her first pair of glasses (which doesn’t go over well with her classmates). This is the start of Mary’s vision problems (she eventually goes blind).
“Remember Me parts 1 & 2” – Charles promises to find a home for the Sanderson children (their mother is dying). This is also the time that Mr. Edwards is courting Grace Snider. Thankfully it all has a happy ending.
“The Gift” – The children want to surprise Reverend Alden with a new bible. Mary and Laura are trusted to hold on to the money but they get a crazy idea of selling medicines to help raise more money to buy Reverend Alden an even bigger gift. They learn the hard way that their idea was a total waste of money – the money they were suppose to use to buy ReverendAlden a new bible.
“The Talking Machine” – Laura and Nellie are fighting over the affection of a classmate named Jason. Nellie uses a “talking machine” to record Laura declaring her feelings towards Jason so that she could use that against Laura to embarrass her in front of Jason and their classmates.
These are just a few of the episodes you’ll find in this collection.
In addition to all the episodes from Season Two there is a bonus feature called “The Little House Phenomenon: Part Two – In the Beginning…”. The first part of this documentary is featured in the remastered season one collection. I’ve seen part one and it is very interesting to get such wonderful insight into this beloved series. Even if you never saw part one you can still enjoy part two of the documentary.
The collection will be released on May 6, 2014. The Blu-ray collection has a suggested retail price of $38.99 and the DVD collection has a suggested price of $29.98. Look for the collection where ever Blu-rays and DVDs are sold. The collection is available TODAY (May 6, 2014).

Even though this isn’t directly answering the question; I’ll take the chance. I don’t really have a favorite episode because in EVERY episode the thing I appreciate most is the simplicity. My love for tiny homes, minimalism and frugality all came from this show. I used to watch it when I was little and the simple living style always stuck with me. Spending time with family, the closeness, the fact that they don’t have material things as distractions..I just love it. Other than Roseanne, Little House on the Prairie is literally my favorite show ever. Thank you for the opportunity to win!
