As a “mom” to five cats, a dog and some fish, I am always trying to do the best I can to ensure that our four legged family members (and the wet ones – LOL) are happy and healthy. Its important to provide them with healthy food, fresh water, a cozy place to sleep, toys and play time and regular vet visits.
As a pet owner it’s important that you know what types of products your pet needs to avoid to remain healthy. I know a lot of people feed their dogs from the table. This is a bad habit to get your dog into (I’m guilty of that). Not only that, “people food” is not always good for pets. Not only can it attribute to pet obesity but many foods are actually toxic and deadly for pets.
This is why I worry about bringing plants and flowers into my home too. My cats like to chew on them and I worry that something might be toxic to them.
Farmers Bounty Dog Food (www.FarmersBountyPet.com – available at PetSmart) provided this infographic that shows you 12 foods your dog should never, ever eat. I knew about some of these items, but not all of them.
Personally I feel like any pet owner who gives their dog alcohol needs to have that pet taken away from them and banned from owning a pet for life. That is not only deadly for the dog but totally irresponsible. That same should apply toward people who think it’s funny to blow marijuana smoke into the face of an animal to get it stoned. That is just so wrong on so many levels!
When in doubt please check with your pet’s vet or simply stick to foods made especially for dogs and cats.

Well I’m glad I don’t see eggs up there, my dogs seem to like eggs. Mushrooms, would that be wild in the yard or the ones I put in most everything I cook? Macadamia nuts only? They seem to like peanuts too.

I have always known about these items and most of them are easy to avoid, the hard one is grapes. My dogs have been eating grapes their whole life with no problems and they love chasing them around. My dogs are 70 pound Labs so it’s not like they are little dogs either.
