Available today on DVD is the horror film Ghost of Goodnight Lane. The film stars Lacey Chabert, Billy Zane, Danielle Harris, Matt Dallas and briefly Richard Tyson.
Ghost of Goodnight Lane kicks off the creepiness pretty much from the start of the movie. Film studio employee Ron (Tyson) experiences some odd happenings while he’s working late (alone) at the studio. Within a few minutes of the film starting Ron becomes the first fatality. Was it murder or a freak accident.
Ron’s co-workers come into work the next day and are saddened by the loss of their friend. Studio owner, Alan (Zane), doesn’t want people sitting around for long. There is work that needs to be done.
Many of the studio’s employees talked about weird things happening lately but no one takes it to heart.
Out of the blue an elderly lady shows up at the studio. Alan recognizes her as a face in the crowd when they were wheeling out Ron’s body into the ambulance. She tells them that her name is Thelma and she used to live in the house that has since been turned into a studio. She tells them that they should never had purchased the house because bad things happened there.
Even though she creeps them out she is asked to leave. Alan chalks it up as an encounter with a crazy lady and nothing more.
As the studio proceeds to continue work on their latest film, including calling in several actors to re-shoot some scenes, more and more odd things keep happening.
Thing take a turn for the worse when everyone realizes there was something to the old lady’s claims. Soon they find themselves trapped inside the studio with an evil entity who is out to destroy them all. They cannot even escape because all the doors and windows appear to be sealed shut.
People start getting killed off one by one by what appears to be the ghost of a young girl.
Some how Thelma is able to get back inside the home. She then proceeds to tell the remaining people the story about the time her daughter disappeared and what happened to her while she was gone. I won’t give away too many details but her daughter and what happened to her has a lot to do with the ghost that is lurking in the studio and the killings.
Will they be able to stop the evil spirit before it’s too late? Who is she and what does she want from them? How many innocent lives will be lost? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Ghost of Goodnight Lane, available where most movies are sold.
The film has an official website, www.GhostofGoodnightLane.com. The film also has a Facebook page and a Twitter account.
I am a die hard horror movie fan. It takes A LOT to impress me. Sadly most horror movies made these days are all about trying to “out gross” other movies. It’s not so much about scaring people as it is making them sick to their stomachs. I also find a lot of horror movies involve sex and half naked women.
When I watch a s0-called horror movie I don’t usually give it much hope. I was actually surprised by this film. It didn’t scare me, but it was a lot better then other horror movies I have seen – including big budget films. I recently watched Insidious 2 on Netflix and found that Ghost of Midnight Lane was 100% better then that film.
This film has some cool special effects (I LOVED the scene with the dolls in the bedroom – that was awesome!).
The film did have some half naked women, but it wasn’t the focus of the film. The film also wasn’t overly gory which in my book is another “plus”.
People call a film that is part comedy, part drama as a “Dramady”. I would called Ghost of Goodnight Lane a “Horredy” – part horror film, part comedy. The film had many comedic lines and scenes.
Here is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment. I should warn you there are some bloody scenes.
