5-hour ENERGY® “Yummification” video contest

It happens to all of us at one time or another – you don’t get enough sleep and you find yourself falling asleep half way through the day, or you are always on the go-go-go and eventually you it all catches up to you and you find yourself totally out of energy.

Taking a nap is not always possible, especially if you are at work. Most people resort to a cup of coffee or tea, or even an energy boosting drink. Coffee and tea don’t give me a “pick me up”. I can drink coffee right before bed and fall asleep with no problem.

I will from time to time reach for an energy drink if I really need a boost of energy to make it through the day – or at least until I am able to take a nap or get to bed. Now that I work in the mornings I sometimes find that by the time I get home around lunch time I’m tired and have no energy to get some work done (blogging, cooking, cleaning…).

Not all energy drinks are tasty. Some don’t necessarily appeal to everyone. I think it’s an acquired taste.

5-hour ENERGY® understands that. That is why they are running a fun contest where people can create their own 5-hour ENERGY® recipes and submit them to the 5-hour ENERGY® “Yummification” video contest.

You could win win a share of $100,000!

Entering is super easy. All you need to do it watch a brief video to give you an idea of what they are looking for. Next mix a 5-hour ENERGY® product (not limited edition flavors) into another beverage. Once you came up with the perfect yummy mix give the concoction a name, video tape yourself making the drink mix and then upload it on the 5-hour ENERGY® Yummification video contest website. That’s it! It’s that easy.

The approved drink mixes include;

  • Decaffeinated soda
  • Fruit juice
  • Vegetable juice
  • Lemonade
  • Smoothie
  • Any form of water

5 Hour Energy

Prohibited mixes include;

  • Limited edition flavors
  • Caffeinated soda
  • Alcohol
  • Other energy shots
  • Other energy products
  • Caffeinated products
  • Dietary supplements

And not that I should mention it because it’s common sense – over the counter or illegal drugs.

I was sent some samples of  5-hour ENERGY® and a gift card to purchase ingredients to create my own drink mix.

My first thought was to create something summery. When I think of summer fresh fruits and vegetables come to mind. My first fruit choice was watermelon. We love watermelon!

I took a fresh watermelon and cut up chunks and put it in the blender (I removed all the seeds). I didn’t find it juicy enough. So I went back to the store and purchased watermelon juice.

I played around with the flavored 5-hour ENERGY® shots and found that Berry tasted best with the watermelon.

  • 1 cup (8 ounces) of watermelon juice (any brand)
  • 1 5-hour ENERGY® shot – Berry flavor (or your favorite flavor)

You could mix it together with a spoon or you can put the juice and energy shot in a blender with a handful of ice and make a chilled drink.

5-hour ENERGY® also makes an orange flavor energy shot. I thought about adding it to orange juice but then I thought I’d take it a bit further and make an orange “creamsicle” flavored drink.

  • 6 ounces of milk
  • 4 ounces of orange juice
  • 1 5-hour ENERGY® shot – Orange flavor
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until mixed (or mix it by hand).

It does have a orange creamsicle sort of taste to it. Plus the milk and orange juice are good for you so you get energy and calcium and Vitamin C all in one drink.

Can you think of a creative recipe to enjoy 5-hour ENERGY® shots? If so you should consider entering the Yummification contest. For more information visit www.5HourYummification.com.

5-hour ENERGY® would like to give a lucky reader a 10-pack of 5-hour ENERGY® shots (assorted varieties) and a $25 gift card that you can use to pick up ingredients to create your own recipe.
