I truly dislike the fact that we don’t have TiVo or a similar type of recorder. I’ll even use a VCR if that was still possible.
I dislike it – A LOT – when there are two shows on the same time that I’d like to watch and I have to give up one to watch another. Such is the case with the series The 100. I have seen bits and pieces of the series on commercials, but it interferes with another show that my husband and I watch. The 100 looked like an interesting show.
Ninety-seven years after nuclear Armageddon destroyed our planet, humanity’s sole survivors live on the Ark, an aging space station experiencing overpopulation and inadequate resources. When faced with difficult choices, the Ark leaders—chief medical officer Abby, Chancellor Jaha and the mysterious Kane—decide to send 100 juvenile prisoners back to Earth to test its living conditions. Among them are Clarke, Abby’s bright daughter; Wells, Jaha’s son; the daredevil Finn; and siblings Bellamy and Octavia. With the survival of all in their inexperienced hands, The 100 young people must learn to rise above their differences and forge a new path on a wild and dangerous landscape that teems with radioactive waste, turbulent weather and unimaginable predators…or face the ultimate extinction of the human race!
I am thrilled that The 100 is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Now I am finally able to catch the series from begining to the end (of the first season that is). In fact now my teenage daughter is hooked on the show. I often find my copy of the series in her room. I don’t know what episode she’s up to but I have watched the first five episodes thus far (the pilot then four other epsidoes). It’s one of those shows where you get totally hooked and you can’t wait for the next episode to air. Thankfully I have all of the episodes available to me with the Complete First Season that I can watch them back to back or at my leisure.
The 100 aires on the CW network. I don’t think the network does enough to promote this series. It’s really a hidden gem. Not too many people I know are even aware that the show is on television. I’ve asked my boss and a few of my friends and no one has even heard of the series. That is such a shame because it’s a great series – entertaining, well written, likable characters, cool special effects… it has it all.
Although the characters are all teenagers in the show, adult can enjoy this series too. It has a lot of “sci-fi” elements to it (space ships), creepy people and weird creatures.
The world of the 100 is post-apocalyptic Earth and people living on space stations because Earth is inhabitable. It reminds me a lot of the Will Smith film After Earth except The 100 is entertaining (After Earth was a horrible movie).
Check out some snippets from the series.
It’s really good. I wish you could see more.

Have you seen the series? If so, what do you think about it? Do you have a favorite character and/or scene?
