We’re a Cheerio loving family. I haven’t met a Cheerio I didn’t like. 🙂
I didn’t start eating Cheerios until I had my first child and the pediatrician recommended giving her Cheerios when she was ready to feed herself. I used to swipe a Cheerio or two from her from time to time.
Cheerios has come a long way since then. Now there are Peanut Butter Cheerios, Apples and Cinnamon Cheerios, Fruity Cheerios and Dark Chocolate Cheerios.
One of my favorites (my family’s too) is Honey Nut Cheerios. Honey Nut Cheerios mascot, Buzz the Bee, has teamed up with eight time Grammy Award winning superstar Usher to help spread the word about how being healthy can be fun and delicious.
Buzz and Usher as encouraging people to celebrate and share healthy and happy moments, like dancing to Usher’s new single “She Came to Give it to You” and enjoying a heart-healthy breakfast with Honey Nut Cheerios. Perhaps you’ve seen their commercial on TV?
In the commercial Buzz tells Usher about the importance of having a heart health breakfast, all while showing off his dance moves to Usher. Usher, who has some special dance moves himself, shows of his dance skills to Buzz dancing to his new release “She Came to Give it to You.”
Here is the commercial in case you haven’t seen it yet.
With heart disease on the rise, Buzz and Usher want people to know how physical activity, such as dance, and healthy eating is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
Heart disease affects one in three people in the U.S. or approximately 82.6 million people, according to the American Heart Association; but a few simple lifestyle choices can make a big difference in people’s overall health:
- Lowering blood pressure and cholesterol will reduce risk of dying of heart disease
- Eating a healthy diet that is low in salt, low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, and rich in fresh fruits and vegetables
- Daily physical activity, like dancing or taking a brisk walk
- Quitting smoking; not smoking
My family eats Honey Nut Cheerios (and other Cheerios) all the time. We even snack on them. They are also great on things like yogurt and even ice cream.
I think a lot of people (myself included) don’t get enough physical activity in during the day. Making small changes such as parking far from the entrance of a building or taking the stairs instead of the elevator can help.
Sometimes when I am cleaning my home I’ll put on the music and dance around my home as I am cleaning. It helps make the mundane chore of cleaning more fun, plus the extra movement helps my body. Who cares who is watching too. If you are having a great time don’t worry about what others think.
“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, Love like you’ll never be hurt, Sing like there’s nobody listening, And live like it’s heaven on earth.” – William W. Purkey
According to Usher – “Dance to me is a feeling, an emotion – the movement is good for your heart in so many ways. I really feel like Buzz and I connected through dance during this shoot. He has some serious dance skills and I’m looking forward to getting more people dancing.”
Cheerios, Buzz and Usher would love to see YOUR dance moves. They would love for you and/or your family to “bust a move” (dancing). Please share your photos and videos of your dance moves on social media (Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr) using the hashtag #Cheerios and tagging @BuzztheBee.
I tried to talk my teens into making a video with me but they were not going for it. They love Usher and they love Honey Nut Cheerios, but, teens will be teens and they would not make a video with me.
I would LOVE to see your dance moves! Please share a link to your Twitter, Instagram and/or Tumblr post where you are dancing for your health and a happy heart. Feel free to leave the link/links in the comments section of this post so I can check it out.

How do you take care of your heart and your health? Do you exercise regularly? Do you eat a heart healthy breakfast? Do you like to dance?

**3 grams of soluble fiber daily from whole grain oat foods, like Honey Nut Cheerios cereal, in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. Honey Nut Cheerios cereal provides .75 grams per serving.
