I am a huge fan of zombie movies. I’ve enjoyed them long before everyone jumped on the zombie bandwagon thanks to the hit show The Walking Dead. I have enjoyed zombie movies since the film Dawn of the Dead (the original from 1978, not the remake from 2004, although that one was pretty good too).
These days there are a lot of zombie movies being released. Some are pretty good (like World War Z) and others are just totally laughable.
A new zombie movie is how available on DVD and Video on Demand (VOD) called The Dead and the Damned 2.
I’ve never seen the original The Dead and the Damned. I wasn’t sure if I would be lost as far as the plot was concerned. This is a stand alone movie, meaning you don’t have to watch the first one to understand what is going on with this movie.
In a post-apocalyptic world where zombies attack the remnants of humanity, one survivor must save an entire town from the living dead in The Dead and the Damned 2 October 7, 2014 from Inception Media Group.
In this high-octane sequel, in a savage land where zombies roam freely, Lieutenant Colonel Sawyer is armed with machine guns, body armor and adrenaline-pumping fearlessness. On a mission to give his fallen family a burial at sea, he must first enter a quarantined, infected zone and fight through hordes of bloodthirsty zombies before reaching the coast.
There, he encounters a group of survivors including a young woman who is the target of both the male survivors and ravenous zombies. To protect the last non-infected humans and complete his mission, Colonel Sawyer must face the dead, the damned and the darkness … Can he save them before all hell breaks loose?
Colonel Sawyer kicks zombie butt in this film. He wears body armor that makes him look like a poor man’s version of Iron Man. It also gives him a robotic appearance. I guess if zombies were running around I’d want some kind of body armor to protect every inch of money body too. His uniform covers him from his head to his feet. It’s a wee bit comical but I guess it works for this film.
The zombie are cool. Some zombie movies have really lame looking zombies. I was impressed with these zombies. They are really creepy. They are not super fast zombies (thankfully). I don’t like fast zombies like the kind in Dawn of the Dead (2004) and World War Z. Those zombies are too fast. I prefer slow zombies. 🙂
There is a lot of gore in this film. If you don’t like blood, guts and seeing heads bashed in then I’d steer clear of this film.
I was surprised that I really liked this film. It was very entertaining. The only thing I would change is the screaming (I hate scenes where women scream a lot) and the crazy uniform Colonel Sawyer wears. I would have preferred that he wore street clothes or something a little less sci-fi looking.
The fun time is 90 minutes. I don’t see a rating on it but I would rate this “R” for the intense gore.
Look for The Dead and the Damned 2 where ever movies are sold.
Here is the film’s trailer for your entertainment.
