I’m very excited for the new Star Wars film which is expected to land in theaters in December 2015. I’m sure the film is going to create a whole new generation of Star Wars fans.
I am a life long Star Wars fan. I saw the original film, Star Wars: The New Hope, in the theater when it was first released. I’ve been a fan every since.
Have you seen the series Star Wars: The Clone Wars yet? It’s an animated series based on the Star Wars series. I watched many episodes from the series. I admit I was not a die hard fan of the series where I couldn’t miss an episode, but I did watch them as often as I could. I think they gave a lot of insight and background to the stories Star Wars fans know and love. It also helped give some insight into the characters and their background stories.
I honestly thought the series had ended. I didn’t know that the Cartoon Network “pulled the plug” on the series. I wonder why?
What remained were 13 episodes that were already created. Instead of letting the episodes get locked away in a cabinet some where the show’s creator opted to put the remaining episodes on Blu-ray for fans to enjoy.
These remaining episodes (seen by some as Season 6) are available on Netflix. It was the only place you could see them until now. Now the Lost Missions episodes are available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Even though I missed a lot of the episodes I still wanted to see these formerly “unseen” episodes. I was curious to not only learn more about the beloved characters and story line, but I also wanted to see if they gave any kind of a hint about what Star Wars 7 is about.
The animation for this series is awesome. It’s not your typical “kiddie” animation with cutesy characters and bright colors. It’s more of a grown up type of cartoon although children can enjoy this as well (not little ones because some of the characters can be scary and the fight scenes might be too intense).
The quality is excellent, most especially because it’s on Blu-ray.
The story line is awesome. As I said, this is not a “kiddie” show. The stories and situations are more complex and intense then an episode of the Mickey Mouse Club. 🙂
It would help if you have seen earlier Star Wars: Clone Wars episodes before watching The Lost Missions. You CAN still enjoy the episodes without seeing previous episodes, but you would understand things better and appreciate the episodes more if you know what led up to them.
True fans of the series will want to pick up a copy of Star Wars: Clone Wars so that you can see where the series was meant to leave off – not what was seen on television.
There are some bonus features on the Blu-ray including four additional story reels – “A Death on Utapau,” “In Search of the Crystal,” “Crystal Crisis” and “The Big Bang.” There is also an interesting documentary about the entire series which gives viewers and fans some insight into how this series was brought to life. I always find these “background” stories interesting. It makes you appreciate the show much more when you know what went on behind the scenes to bring it to life.
Look for Star Wars – Clone Wars: The Lost Missions where ever Blu-rays are sold.
Have you seen the series before? What do you think about it? Have you seen the Lost Missions?
Here is a clip for your enjoyment.
