I might be showing my age a bit, but as a kid I looked forward to Saturday morning every week. Saturday mornings I spent glued to my television watching all of my favorite cartoons. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a “couch potato” by any means. I was always outside playing. Saturday mornings were the exception.
Some of my favorite Saturday morning shows included The Flintstones, The Jetsons, H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmund the Sea Monster, Magilla Gorilla, Funky Phantom, Groovie Ghoulies, School House Rocks, Land of the Lost and Looney Tunes to name a few. I could literally go on and on. I loved my Saturday morning shows. I hope they will come back to television some day (Hello Netflix!). 🙂
My husband was also a fan. For his birthday and Christmas I try and buy him DVDs and/or Blu-rays of his favorite Saturday morning shows. We are slowly building up our collection. Sadly many shows are not available on Blu-ray or DVD. Hopefully some day they will be.
Did you know you can find many classic favorites on Netflix? I am always overjoyed when I stumble upon a favorite show from my youth on Netflix. Not only does it bring back wonderful memories for me and my husband, it’s also great to share our beloved shows with our kids.
I find it funny that our kids (teens) always think the shows we loved a children were “lame,” “stupid” and “silly.” They fail to forget some of THEIR favorite shows like Teletubbies and Barney. LOL!
Some of my favorite Netflix “retro” finds include The Munsters, Dinosaurs (I’m the baby!), The Andy Griffith Show and Woody Woodpecker.
Here are some more fun “Saturday Morning” finds on Netflix.
Danger Mouse (6/15)
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends
The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That
The Super Mario Bros Super Show!
Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated
Netflix not only has plenty of “oldies but goodies” when it comes to Saturday morning cartoons and shows, they also have plenty of classic films. We always check on Netflix when we are interested in watching a film we haven’t seen in a very long time.
Don’t get me wrong – Netflix has plenty of current hits as well. They have it all – old favorites to new and popular films and shows.
Speaking of new, check out what is new or coming soon to Netflix soon.
Gallina Pintadita (Now streaming in Spanish!)
Bindi’s Boot Camp (6/15)
Some Assembly Required (6/19)
Dragons: Race to the Edge: Season 1 (6/26)
Do you have a favorite Saturday morning cartoon or television show from your youth? Would you watch it again if it was readily available to you to watch? Does your child have a favorite Saturday morning show? Feel free to share your thoughts. I always love to hear from my readers.
