Finally! Both of my kids are finally off to school. Actually, my daughter started college last week. The high school went back to school this week.
I cannot even begin to tell you just how crazy things are these days. Four people trying to get ready in the morning with one bathroom is not fun. To add to the craziness I am currently working two part time jobs (9-12:30 and 3-5). My daughter’s college schedule is also hectic, plus there is a little matter of getting her to/from work.
The days are so crazy that I REALLY look forward to Saturday and Sunday just so I can sit back, relax and not have to stress out over things.
Trying to find time to get things done is so difficult during the week. Even trying to get dinner on the table by the time my husband gets home around 5:45 is next to impossible.
With all this craziness, who has time to do things like bake. Actually… baking IS something we can do with our crazy schedules if we use Krusteaz, a delicious brand of convenient, high quality boxed baking mixes.
Krusteaz has a new line of Bakery Style Cookie Mixes that are so quick and easy to prepare that you could bake a fresh batch of cookies in minutes with little to no effort at all. Most mixes just need one egg and some butter. That’s it! Just mix the cookie mix with the egg and butter, spoon them on to a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for around 12-13 minutes (please check the instructions for specific baking times).
That’s it! That is all you need to do. That means I can bake cookies while doing other things around my kitchen. There is no need for several measuring cups, extra ingredients or even a huge mess to clean up. It’s just one mixing bowl, mixing spoon, measuring cup and cookie sheets. Clean up is a snap and let’s face it, with our hectic schedule who has time for a big mess to clean up? Not me!
Krusteaz sent me and my family some of their delicious cookie mixes to try out.
Triple Chocolate Chunk – OH SO GOOD! My favorite cookie.
Meyer Lemon – We didn’t have a chance to make these… yet!
Double Peanut Butter – Great peanut butter flavor without being “too” peanut buttery.
Brown Sugar Oatmeal – These were different. We love oatmeal cookies. The brown sugar really added to the flavor of these cookies.
Oatmeal Scotchie – We’ve never had these before. They are oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips. It was a surprise flavor combination. Next time I’d love to add pecans or walnut pieces to this cookie. I think a nutty touch of flavor would make these cookies taste amazing.
Butter Vanilla Sugar – We didn’t make these yet. We are going to use the cookie cutters for these. My kids want to decorate them so these cookies are something we’d have to make on the weekend when we have a bit more time.
They also sent us some other goodies including a selfie stick to snap photos baking and enjoying cookies, cookie cutter and measuring spoons from from Curious Chef, cookie recipe inspiration cards and more.
My kids (teenagers) wanted to make these cookies on their own. Actually it was my daughter who wanted to make them (she wants to learn how to cook/bake on her own). She talked my son into helping her. After the first batch the made together he was hooked and wanted to make ALL the cookies. LOL!
We had a small gathering this past weekend so my kids made the cookies to share with our guests (whatever they didn’t devour – I don’t think there were any Triple Chocolate Chunk cookies left).
I left the kids to make the cookies themselves. They also didn’t want my help, which is fine.
There are photos (they didn’t use the selfie stick when baking – my daughter just snapped photos from her phone). I have yet to see the pictures. I keep asking her to send me a couple but she hasn’t as of yet.
The one thing my kids DIDN’T do it measure out the cookie mix properly. Their cookies were HUGE – as in super huge. That is fine. It’s not like people won’t eat huge cookies. It also might have been that we didn’t have butter on hand. They used a margarine that might have made the mix too watery which could have made the cookies spread out like they did when baking. I’m not 100% sure. All I know is that we had HUGE cookies.
My kids baked up a storm. Our guests had several flavors to choose from. I think if I would have left them alone they would have used up ALL of the cookie mixes that Krusteaz sent me.
Most families are always on the go-go-go, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the good things in life like warm, freshly baked cookies straight from the oven. With Krusteaz Bakery Style Cookies you CAN.
