I look forward to this time of year all year long. It’s not that I want to wish the Spring or Summer away, it’s just that the fall kicks off the start to the holiday season. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are my favorite holidays (followed closely by Easter and Valentines Day).
I love to decorate for the holidays and seasons. It’s one of my passions in life. One could say I’m almost obsessed with it.
I have to admit that I started to decorate for the fall as soon as the calendar read September 1st. I mostly have fall things up but I am slowly adding Halloween decorations to the mix too. The bulk of my decorations are still in the basement.
I love to buy new decorations each season and rotate them with some older pieces.
I have so much stuff that my husband jokingly says that for every one thing I buy I need to get rid of two things just to make room for everything. LOL!
He’s not kidding. We have A LOT of decorations – and that is an understatement.
We live in a teeny, tiny condo. My dream is to own a home. Not only for more room but also to be able to decorate the way I have always wanted to and to host big parties such as a Halloween party and Christmas Party so show off my decorations.
I’m always on the look out for new decorations for my home.
I was pleasantly surprised last week when I visited my local Marshalls store and found an abundance of fall and Halloween decor.
When I first walked into the store I made a bee line to the women’s blouses. I wanted to see if they had something dressy, but casual, that I could wear to work. I didn’t look long because my eyes caught glimpse of Halloween/Fall table runners. We don’t have a dining room table, but we have a huge coffee table. I went to check them out to see if they had one that would fit our coffee table.
As I looked around I started noticing more and more seasonal decor. Thankfully I had plenty of time before I had to be at work so I could take my time and check out all that Marshalls had to offer.
I found A LOT of seasonal scented candles, many from Yankee Candle, around the store. If there is one thing I am a sucker for is a great smelling candle. I had to stock up on those too. I picked up a few candles.
When I came around to the mid-way section of Marshalls I noticed children’s Halloween costumes. WOW! WOW! WOW! Marshalls has the cutest, most unique costumes I have ever seen. I wish my kids were younger because I would have loved to have seen them in one of these fun costumes.
It’s hard to tell from the photo but the cake costume (top right) has a puffy “skirt” on it so that it looks more like a real cake. Too cute!
I also love the French Fry hat for the Hamburger costume. My husband said if it was available in adult sizes he would get it and wear it to the door when we pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters.
What little girl wouldn’t want to wear a pretty Princess costume like the one I found at Marshalls.
In the end I picked up candles, glass pumpkins, a cute candy basket that looks like a bat, tea towels, pumpkins and a few other items to use to decorate my home for the holiday/season.
I already have Halloween candy inside the adorable bat treat basket I picked up from Marshalls. You can also see one of the candles I picked up at Marshalls to the right of the photo.
My next stop was TJ Maxx. To be honest I don’t shop there often. I usually go in there with my daughter (she likes to look for the deals on clothing). I would never really think about TJ Maxx for holiday and seasonal decor. Wow! Was I in for a big surprise.
The moment I walked in the door at my local TJ Maxx I was greeted by holiday and seasonal decor. Many items were put on display right in front of the entrance.
I love “unique” looking things, and I don’t shy away from things others might find “creepy.”
On the front display table at TJ Maxx was a crow and book sculpture. When you turn it on the crow’s eyes light up red. I just had to have it. It looks SO COOL when you turn it on in a darkened room.
TJ Maxx had so much holiday and seasonal items, including two of my weaknesses – candles and bath & body products. I could have gone crazy shopping there. In a way I think I did but I did limit myself so I didn’t spend too much. Sadly those scented liquid hand soaps are calling my name. I think I might have to make a trip back to TJ Maxx.
TJ Maxx had a lot of Halloween costumes too. I noticed a lot of similar ones to the ones I saw in Marshalls, but there were some others that I only found at TJ Maxx. Aren’t these just darling? I love the embroidery on the blue Princess costume.
I also love the kangaroo costume with the baby in the pouch. There was one for a child and a smaller size for toddlers. They are so cute!
I found a lot of fall items that I fell in love with. I picked up several pieces for Thanksgiving including pretty acorn salt and pepper shakers, a gorgeous pumpkin serving platter and amazing colorful leaf plates.
They also had plenty of Halloween decor too!
I didn’t leave the store without a cart full of goodies, just like what happened at Marshalls. I even bought the softest blanket I have ever felt. If you follow me on Instagram you might have saw the photo of our cat Bella who enjoys the blanket as much as I do.
I love all the new items I picked up at both Marshalls and TJ Maxx for my home. Even though Halloween is still over a month away I couldn’t resist putting a lot of the items I bought on on display in my home.
Now that I know that Marshalls and TJ Maxx are more than just designer clothing at discounted prices, I’m going to make sure to swing by both stores again around Thanksgiving when the Christmas decor will be out. I can eve pick up some holiday gifts while I’m there too.
If you are looking for beautiful (and spooky) holiday and seasonal decor, be sure to check out your local Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores.
If you are in need of Halloween costumes be sure to check out both stores too (they even have costumes for dogs!).
To find a location near you visit MarshallsOnline.com and TJMaxx.com. Both brands are found on social media too. All of their links are found on their websites.
Have you shopped at either Marshalls or TJ Maxx lately? What incredible finds did you find there? Did you know you could find holiday and seasonal decor at these stores at amazing prices?

*I received a gift card to shop at these stores and do a review. I also paid for items out of pocket. There was no other compensation. The opinions expressed are my own and not influenced in any way.

You got quite a few really nice items! Last year I found some really fun pumpkin and Yankee candles there too. I’ll for sure be checking it out again this year. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

I love shopping at Marshalls and TJ Maxx, they have some of the best selections. You look like you made out quite well. I wish they had those cute costumes when my kids were little. We had to hand make them back then because the store bought ones were so cheap and looked store bought. Now you probably could get away with pulling these off as homemade.
