Do you love to watch movies? My family and I sure to. We watch movies A LOT.
My husband and I collected movies (VHS tapes) long before we even met. When we got married we combined our collections and donated any duplicates we had.
When our kids came along our family movie collection grew. We had plenty of movies for the entire family to enjoy as well as ones for grown ups.
Then DVDs and Blu-rays came along. We tried to buy any movie we had on VHS tape on Blu-ray or DVD. We’re still missing a few movies.
Being a blogger I also receive movies to review. Let met tell you – I have reviewed A LOT of movies since I started blogging in 2008.
Several months ago we went through all of our Blu-ray and DVDs to figure out which ones to keep and which ones to donate. We had over 1,000+ movies. Yes… you read that correctly – OVER 1,000+.
I have plenty of films that are only in paper sleeves too (movies sent to me to review).
Some movies I couldn’t donate since they were studio copies (I kept those). Others I was able to donate.
We still ended up with over 600 movies still in our collection and I am still adding to it on a regular basis.
When I say my family loves movies, I wasn’t kidding. LOL!
Have you heard of the Movie of the Day! app? It’s an application you can get for your smartphone or tablet for FREE.
Movie of the Day! offers you a new movie download at a special promotional price on iTunes everyday. Movie deals range from blockbusters to acclaimed indies, and everything in between. All transactions are done safely through iTunes and saved to your iTunes Library. All deals will be available for 24 hours.
The app is available from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The movies available on the app are also from the movie studio.
I downloaded the app on my smartphone. Every day I receive a text that alerts me to the new movie of the day as well as the sale price. I’m sure you can turn off notifications. I prefer receiving the text because I am very busy and might forget to check the app. I appreciate the text to alert me to new deals.
You might think the movies offered through the Movies of the Day! app are no-name, straight-to-DVD type movies. That is not the case at all! These are popular movies.
Here are just a few titles that appeared on the Movie of the Day! app recently.
- The Sound of Music – $6.99
- Working Girl – $3.99
- Joy Ride – $4.99
- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel – $5.99
- Ever After: A Cinderella Story – $4.99
- X-Men: First Class – $6.99
- Rio 2 – $4.99
- The Fault in Our Stars – $7.99
These movies retail for around $14.99 normally on iTunes. As you can see you can purchase the movies at a deep discounted price and they are yours to keep and enjoy forever. They will appear along side other iTunes movie purchases.
I still prefer a physical copy of a film (as you can tell by our massive collection) but I do enjoy having plenty of films I can watch on my smartphone, tablet or computer at anytime – especially when traveling.
If you would like to learn more about the Movie of the Day! app you can check it out on iTunes – Movie of the Day.
What do you think about the Movie of the Day! app? Does it sound interesting to you? Do you think you’ll check it out? Feel free to share your thoughts.

I enjoy a movie every once in awhile. I probably own 25. I don’t have a smartphone so won’t be using this app. Great for movie lovers.
