Now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download is the sci-fi/horror flick Tremors 5: Bloodlines.
I have seen both the original Tremors and the second one. I never knew they made a three and four – let along a fifth installment. I’ll have to look them up one day.
Tremors 5: Bloodlines stars Michael Gross and Jamie Kennedy. Gross reprises his role of Burt Gummer from the original from the other Tremors films.
Burt Gummer is the star of his own survival series. He even has his own line of products.
While shooting in the middle of nowhere Burt discovers that his camera man has found another job and his replacement just showed up on a motorcycle. His name is Travis (Jamie Kennedy).
While filming for his series another man shows up out of now where. He tells Burt that an “A$$ Blaster” (the creature from the other films) has been found in Africa and is reaping havoc on the locals. They want Burt to fly to Africa and destroy the beast.
Burt and Travis head off to Africa to track down the beast. To their surprise the beast has evolved and there are actually several of them, including a massive one that attacks from underground. They also discover that the beast has a lair where dozens of eggs have been located. Now it’s up to Burt to not only kill the beasts (as there are several) but also destroy the eggs before they have a chance to hatch.
Will Burt succeed? Will this finally be an end to these creatures? To find out you need to get a copy of Tremors 5: Bloodlines. Look for it where ever movies are sold.
I would not really consider this a horror film, but some people might look at it that way. It could be scary for some people, especially those who don’t like things to jump out at you or scary beasts. Personally I consider this film as a combination of horror and comedy. Jamie Kennedy’s character especially has some funny one liners. I especially love all the little nicknames he gave to Burt’s character.
The creatures are really cool looking, although I could have done without the ones that shoot fire out of their behinds (A$$ Blasters). That is just downright silly. But I guess that adds to the appeal of this film franchise. It’s not meant to be taken seriously – not even a little bit.
The film was predictable at times, but that is OK. It was still entertaining. It also made me want to see the other two films that I missed (Tremors 3 and Tremors 4).
There were some references to other film’s that some might not pick up on like a line similar to one in the movie Die Hard. The kitchen scene is reminiscent of the scene in Jurassic Park (right down to watching the beasts claws tapping on the floor as it walks).
There are some bonus features on the Blu-ray/DVD (not sure about Digital Download).
- Deleted And Extended Scenes
- Outtakes
- Tremors 5: Behind The Bloodlines featurette
The deleted and extended scenes were not that big of a deal. The outtakes were fun to watch. The featurette was OK too.
Here is the film’s trailer for your entertainment.
