Available today on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download is the hilarious Shaun the Sheep Movie.
Shaun the Sheep Movie is based on the popular television series, Shaun the Sheep.
I love the series. I watch it every chance I get. I even have several DVDs featuring episodes from the series.
Shaun the Sheep is made by the same people who bring your Wallace and Gromit. It’s filmed in stop motion animation. If you are not familiar with that style of film making, it’s made the say way films and holiday specials such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Frankenweenie, Nightmare Before Christmas and Paranorman.
Shaun is bored with life on the farm. He wants to go on a little adventure, but it would be impossible to do. Farmer would notice he was gone.
Shaun comes up with an ingenious plan to help put farmer to sleep so that he can leave for a while. The plan works, and he does go back to his bed, but they had put his bed in an old camper which accidentally starts to roll away. Bitzer, the farm dog, chases after the farmer to bring him back and orders the flock to stay on the farm.
Shaun and the sheep get worried when Bitzer and the farmer don’t return. They need them on the farm.
Shaun sneaks on a bus into the city, not realizing the rest of the flock follows behind him on another bus.
Once in the city the sheep find out that the farmer has lost his memory due to a bump on the head. He’s now known as “Mr. X,” a popular hairstylist who cuts people’s hair similar to how he sheers sheep.
The flock devises a plan to put people back to sleep, including farmer, and bring him back to the farm. That is until Shaun is captured by the dog warden who thinks he’s a dog – not a sheep. While at the shelter Shaun finds Bitzer who has been missing ever since he went into the city to find farmer.
Shaun and Bitzer are able to escape, thanks to a stray dog. They also find farmer but farmer has no recollection of who they are and wants nothing to do with them.
Will the flock be able to help farmer get back his memory? Will they ever make it back to the farm? What about farmer – will he ever return to his farm and beloved flock or will he remain in the city as Mr. X? I always love to see how films are made. It gives you a better appreciation for a film when you know how much goes into bringing it to life and making it to the big screen.
It’s amazing how they do things in stop motion animation. It must take forever to make a film like this. Every detail has to be done by hand, right down to the expressions on their faces. It’s truly amazing.
This film did not fail to entertain me and my family. It’s a fun movie for people of all ages. Some jokes younger kids might find funny and other jokes only older people will understand. It’s a great blend.
There is some crude humor but nothing I personally found offending, nor would it prevent me from letting my kids see the film. The crude humor gives the movie a PG rating. It also has a run time of 85 minutes.
I love that all the characters from the series are in the film. They didn’t leave anyone out.
I laughed a lot watching this movie. It’s silly, but in a fun way.
This is the perfect family movie night movie and would make a great addition to your family’s movie collection.
I hope that there are more Shaun the Sheep movies in the future.
Below is the official trailer for your entertainment. Please note that this trailer is for the theatrical release. The film is no longer in theaters. It’s available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.
