Now available on DVD and Digital HD is the thriller Home Invasion. The film stars Jason Patric (Lost Boys), Scott Adkins (Zero Dark Thirty) and Natasha Henstridge (Species).
Chloe (Henstridge) is a wealthy young woman who lives in a big home with her stepson Jacob. They don’t have a good relationship. Jacob is bitter and angry that his father is never around and calls out Chloe, saying that she only married his father because of his money.
Chloe and her stepson live in the middle of no where. They moved there from the city, but his father did not follow them. Not being able to see his father makes him lash out against Chloe.
One stormy night, Chloe’s friend comes over to visit with her so she can vent about her relationship with her stepson.
Late that night someone pulls into Chloe’s driveway. They assume someone had the wrong house, so Chloe’s friend goes outside to steer them in the right direction.
Out of no where Chloe hears gunfire. Looking at her home security system she sees that her friend was shot by whomever was in the car. As she rushes to shut the front door she can see the assailants rushing towards her home.
Chloe was able to lock her door and flee upstairs to retrieve her stepson.
As the pair are struggling to find a safe place to hide, the intruders break into their home.
Chloe is able to call out to her home security system company where her call is forwarded to a manager named Mike. Mike turns out to be the “eyes and ears” for Chloe and her step son to help them escape before they are captured – or worse – killed.
Will Chloe and Jacob be able to escape their own home? Who are the intruders and what are they after? To find out you need to pick up a copy (or stream via Digital HD) Home Invasion. Look for it where movies are sold.
I did not see any bonus features on the DVD copy that I have.
Home Invasion reminded me a lot of the film Panic Room (Jody Foster) with a bit of The Purge mixed in.
Home Invasion is not necessarily a new “idea.” There are plenty of “home invasion-like” films.
The movie was just “ok.” It wasn’t a bad film. I did find it entertaining, but it’s not one of those films that I would watch again and again.
I find it unrealistic that a mother and her stepson could move around their home and hide in the walls and cabinets while armed men (and one women) are searching for them. It doesn’t seem likely they could easily move about undetected.
I also find it creepy that a security company would have so many cameras set up INSIDE the home, and how they had control over many aspects of the home, including the sound system. I’d want a totally secure house too, but what if access to your home gets into the hands of the wrong security person? Humm… that could be a plot for another movie. LOL!
The film is rated PG-13 for violence and peril. Not only that, it could make little ones feel LESS secure in their own homes.
Here is the movie’s trailer for your enjoyment.
