There are plenty of gift ideas for Valentine’s Day – jewelry, a box of chocolates, flowers, a plush animal… These are all great ideas, but sadly, some of them only last for a few days at best (chocolates, flowers…). I’m sure you would rather give a gift that would last forever and is something that can be enjoyed year round, not just on Valentine’s Day.
If an expensive piece of jewelry is not in your budget this year, I have another option – artwork.
If you’re looking for a unique Valentine’s gift that will last forever and will truly express your feelings, look no further than the art works at Saatchi Art.com.
Here are some examples of artwork from Saatchi Art’s Gifts for Valentine’s Day collection hand-chosen by Katherine Henning, Saatchi Art’s Associate Curator. If you want to explore other works, Saatchi Art offers a FREE advisory service to help you choose the perfect piece from its hundreds of affordable works.
The leading online art gallery, Saatchi Art has a huge collection: choose from more than 500,000 original paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs by over 50,000 emerging artists from over 70 countries. Original works at Saatchi Art wont’ break the bank –they start at as little as $135 (prints are as affordable as $35) and the average price range is from $2000 to $10,000.
I like that you can also get canvas print for many of the pieces of artwork. I prefer canvas prints because I find them easier to hang and I like how they add dimension to the walls (they pop out – they don’t lie flush against the wall).
I checked out some of the recommended pieces of art for Valentine’s Day. One of them stood out to me right away. It’s entitled Butterflies on Deep Crimson by artist Lily Greenwood from the United Kingdom.
It’s beautiful!
I LOVE the colors! I also love that you can hang it vertically or horizontally and it looks wonderful either way.
Saatchi Art sent me a canvas copy of this print. It’s just as lovely in person as it was online.
I have the 12″ x 16″ canvas print. It’s small but it still stands out against the wall. It’s rich, deep, dark crimson red background “pops” from the delicate light green walls in our living room. The colors of the butterflies brings the colors together.
Here is my print on top of our bookcase both horizontal and vertical (I keep it vertical).
I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! this colorful canvas print. The photos do not do it justice.
You certainly don’t have to stick with the recommend artwork for Valentine’s Day. Saachi Art has a variety of artwork in different mediums to choose from such as photography, sculptures, paintings, collages and drawings.
Here are a few of my favorites from the site.
A piece of art is something that can be enjoyed day after day. It’s not for the holidays and it’s not seasonal. It can also be passed down from generation to generation. Some artwork could even be an investment.
Saatchi Art has artwork that would appeal to most everyone. I love art and I found many pieces that I truly loved. At the same time I found some pieces that were a bit weird (in my opinion). Just like anything else, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
Saatchi Art also has a “room view” option that will give you an idea of how the artwork (except sculptures) will look on a wall. Look for this graphic (below) to see the piece of art and how it would look in a generic room.
Even if there is not enough time to get the piece of art (I’m not sure of their shipping options), artwork still makes a great gift year round. It’s also something you can buy to decorate your home with.
For more information visit SaatchiArt.com. You can also find them on social media. All of their social media links are found on the bottom of their website.
What do you think about gifting a piece of artwork? Is it something you would love to receive as a gift?
