If you read my blog on a regular basis you have probably read posts I have written about our “mini-zoo” – our five cats, dog and Goldfish.
Our pets mean the world to us. There is nothing we won’t do to make sure they are happy and healthy.
We spoil our pets too. We give them plenty of fun toys, comfy places to sleep, food, treats and a lot of hugs and snuggles
All of our furry family members were adopted. Four of our five cats and our dog are from our local animal shelter (one was a foster kitten who we ended up adopting). Our other cat was a feral (wild) kitten that we took in. He’s far from wild now. He’s very shy and timid.
Our fish we won at the county fair five years ago. He’s suppose to be a Goldfish but he’s HUGE (about 8″ long). We joke that he’s a baby Koi fish.
Since most of our pets are adopted, we try and donate to our local shelter as often as we can whether it’s food, money, old blankets or toys.
I also tend to shop at places I know that give back to the community, especially animal related charities.
A designer pet company called Up Country does just that. They donate to various pet charities.
Here at Up Country we are committed to giving back to our community, both in our backyard and far afield. As a local company with a Made in the USA mantra, it’s natural for us to have a grass roots approach to giving. Our goals are not only to provide monetary support for these organizations, but to also raise awareness for their important causes.
Up Country gives back to the community, both locally and internationally with their recent announcement of Up Country Cares. They truly care about all animals, not just dogs. I am happy to support such a company.
Up Country has a huge assortment of dog products – bedding, toys, treats, accessories. They also have a few cat products as well.
We have an indoor/outdoor dog bed from Up Country that I was sent to review.
We live in a condo. We are located on the top floor. The only “yard” we have is a rickety old wooden 6′ x 12′ balcony. Our dog gets to go for walks, but our cats can’t. They need fresh air so they spend a lot of their time on the balcony.
The balcony is made out of wood that is old ans splintered. One day when we win Lotto (Ha!) we’ll have it replaced. In the mean time we have to make due with what we have.
I don’t want them to sleep on the bare wood (that is not very comfortable – plus I worry about splinters). In the summer we put out an outdoor rug, but that can get really hot and it’s not that comfy either. For that reason we like to provide our fur babies with comfy places to lie on our balcony.
I opted for an indoor/outdoor bed for our pets from Up Country because its something our pets can enjoy year round – even in the winter (we’ll just bring it inside).
I opted for a large bed because often I have seen our dog and one of our cats sharing a bed at the same time.
What I like about this bed is that the cover is washable. Pets get things dirty whether it’s muddy feet or throwing up a hairball. Stuff happens. That is why I love the idea of being able to wash it. Our other pet beds are not washable and I can never get them fully clean.
At Up Country the indoor/outdoor pet bed is called a “Futon.” You can purchase additional covers so that you can change the look throughout the year.
As per Up Country…
Outdoor Pet Futons are made with durable weather-resistant material. Beautiful fabrics are nice enough to go from indoors to outdoors and tough enough for even the worst weather. Covers zip off for easy cleaning.
I have seen most of our pets on the bed/futon, most especially our dog Espn. He especially likes it and sleeps/lies on it all the time when he’s outside. It’s a great way for him to get fresh air and sunshine without having to sleep on a uncomfortable wooden balcony.
Here is our cat Anakin enjoying the Up Country bed too. He probably uses it the most out of all of our cats.
