Mother’s Day is fast approaching – have you given any thought how you are going to honor and celebrate that special woman in your life?
Sadly, my mom passed away years ago. Not a day goes by (especially Mother’s Day) when I don’t think about her. She wasn’t my biological mother – she was my paternal grandmother who raised me since I was a toddler. She has always been my mother regardless of our biological relationship.
Being a mother is hard. To quote the military, it’s the toughest job you’ll ever love. I don’t think I’ve had a good night’s sleep in 19 years, nor a hot meal. If I’m not up changing diapers and 3 AM feedings I am wide awake at night worrying about my teenagers and their futures. And during most dinners I am getting up and going back and forth between the kitchen and dining room getting things for the of the family.
Being a mom is tough sometimes. We tend to do the bulk of the cooking, cleaning and running the kids around town for appointments, sports and play dates. When our family is sick we take care of them – even if we’re not feeling well either. There is no one to take care of mom when she’s feeling sick. But we power through because that is what mom’s do.
We have an innate ability to juggle numerous things at a time, remember details (names, dates, appointments…), schedule everything for everyone and still mange to cook, clean and care for our families.
Moms are house cleaners, cooks, chauffeurs, coaches, teachers, nurses… many things rolled up into one. Not to mention many moms are also career women and hold down jobs while taking care of their families and home.
It’s a tough job being a mom – but the rewards well outweigh everything else. It’s all worth it when you see your baby smile, hear your child giggle, watch your teen graduate from high school… That is what being a mom is all about.
Check out this interesting video and infographic from Teleflora that shows just how being mom is a tough job, but we are strong and we can do this.
As a special tribute to moms everywhere this Mother’s Day, Teleflora’s “One Tough Mother” video ad celebrates the “tough, gritty, no pain-no-gain” job that moms take on every day. Its anthem, the famous words shared by the legendary coach “Vince” Lombardi and his “What It Takes To Be Number One” speech, honors its guiding principles about winning and success. The video ad features “real life” moms to maintain the authenticity of the campaign, which celebrates every “One Tough Mother” in your life…recognizing the strength, courage, perseverance, and infinite love that inspires us through her endless journey through motherhood. Motherhood isn’t always hearts and roses, but Mother’s Day can be with Teleflora. I was sent the Garden Pitcher Bouquet to review as part of this campaign. This is a spetacular arrangement. Not only are the flowers gorgeous, but the lovely pitcher can be used to serve milk, water and juice (or use it to display more flowers).
As you can see the flowers are remarkable – so colorful and beautiful!
I LOVE the pitcher. I’m not sure what I am going to do with it yet (use it as a pitcher, vase or decoration). The pitcher is very well made and as you can see, very colorful.
This is a gift that will be remembered and enjoyed for many years to come.
