Now available on DVD is the film Noble staring Irish actress Deirdre O’Kane, Brendan Coyle, Sarah Greene and Liam Cunningham. The film is based on the life of Christina Noble who went from living in an orphanage in Ireland to helping orphaned and homeless children thousands of miles away in Ho Chi Minh City after the Vietnam War.
Christina grew up in Ireland. Her home life was somewhat good until her mother passed away. Unable to keep the family together Christina’s alcoholic father lost custody of his children and they were taken away to an orphanage run by nuns.
Christina was a bit of a rebellious child who dreamed of singing like her favorite actress Doris Day.
Christina ended up in an orphanage where the nuns were pretty harsh with her (and the other children).
As if her life was hard enough, Christina became pregnant after she was raped. The nuns forbade her from keeping the child and it was put up for adoption against her wishes.
Christina was even briefly married and even that married turned out horrible.
Christina had conversations with God. One day it came to her in a dream about all of the children suffering post-Vietnam war in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). Something drew her to them and she took off to Vietnam to see what she could do to help them.
Once in Vietnam, Christina was overwhelmed by the number of children who needed her help. She wanted to set up facilities where these children could be helped and provided with food, shelter and medical care. She was granted three months by the country’s officials to secure a partner for her foundations or she would have to leave the country.
Will she find the sponsor that she needs to establish her foundations? Will she finally find peace and happiness after her horrible earlier life? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Noble, now available where movies are sold.
Here is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
This film will tug at your heartstrings. It’s a deeply emotional, poignant and moving film.
This is NOT a family friendly film. Although it does feature a lot of adorable children, the story it’s self is too intense for young viewers. The film is rated PG-13.
I have never heard of Christina Noble until now. For all the work she did to help the children in Vietnam she should be commended.
This is a strong and powerful movie about how one women never let her past dictate her future. She was also courageous and fought hard for what she believed in. Her dedication to the children she helped is inspiring.
I was very impressed by the cinematography and sets for this film. They kept it true to the time period.
If you are looking for an action and adventure film, or one that will make you laugh hysterically, this is NOT the film for you. If you are interested in a film that plays on your emotions and makes you want to stand up and cheer, Noble is the film for you.
Look for Noble where ever movies are sold.
