The film, as you guessed it, is about guns.
If there’s one thing the men of Rockford, Texas love as much as their women, it’s their guns. But life in this idyllic town is turned upside-down when a gun incident involving her son spurs stay-at-home mom Jenna (Andrea Anders) to rethink Rockford’s obsessive gun culture. Much to the chagrin of her husband Glenn (Matt Passmore), Jenna ignites a movement by convincing the women of Rockford to withhold sex until every gun in town is given up. A wild and hilarious showdown ensues between the sexes. As tensions—and libidos—rise, the men and women of Rockford must decide what’s really important: keeping the peace or getting a piece.
Provocative and timely, Is that a gun in your pocket?... is poised to stir conversations about gun control in America as well as female empowerment and sexuality, while also being romantic, heart-warming, and hysterically funny.
I was sent a screener copy to review.
I don’t talk politics with anyone, nor do I discuss my position on things like gun control. I am only going to share my thoughts on the movie its self.
Gun control is a serious issue in this country. This film takes a light-hearted approach to the subject matter, but the overall theme is still there.
The incident that sparked the wive withholding sex until their husbands gave up their guns involved a child that brought a gun to school to show a friend. The gun accidentally went off an someone was injured. This was a gun that was locked up too. Sadly, this type of scenerio happens across the country (children getting access to a gun – even locked ones). This results was comical, but in the real word people have died from children getting access to guns.
I will say that there is a lot of sexual talk and sexual innuendos in this film. If stuff like that makes you feel uncomfortable (especially watching the film in mixed company) you might want to pass on this one. Watching actress Cloris Leachman talking about vibrators is not for everyone. Personally I could have done with less sex talk. Or at least tone it down a bit (there is a lot of sex related stuff in this film).
This is a comedy, and there plenty of funny parts. It’s a bit “cheesy” and predictable at times, but I think most people will find it amusing and entertaining (less the sex talk and inuendos).
This film is rated R. Off hand I don’t know the run time but I believe it was around an hour and a half long (give or take).
